I just had to share my kitchen plants; I’m so excited about these babies! That and my Prestonia quinquangularis is finally making her beautiful comeback! When she arrived, she had terrible travel shock, and I lost her to the point of a single stem. She’s finally looking better. I’m so excited. My majestic philodendron started opening into new, gorgeous, bigger leaves. I love my pink plants. So don’t be surprised if you see more pinks 🫶🏻🌸🩵🐾🪴 My citruses arrived today! So excited. It’s a Dwarf Buddha Hand Citrus Tree; Rio Red Grapefruit; Sunquat Tree; Marumi Kumquat; Fukushu Kumquat Tree; Eustis Limequat Tree, and then my caladium bulbs. New trick: Turning a plastic pot to a faux terracotta one. To increase the airflow and reduce the humidity around your plant’s roots, use a welding stick (~$12) and punch holes in the botttom 1/3 of the pot. Make it decorative if you like, and no need to remove the plants or soil to do it. Don’t make your holes higher than the 1/3 mark as that may make the pot too dry in the root zone. You can also use a soldering iron to make holes in the bottom (~5) if your pot has no drainage. BTW This is my newest plant in its newest pot. Heyyy! I absolutely know I’m going to forget to post in the morning, so I’m getting it in early for #FreshLeafFriday (are those still a thing? I’ve been so out of the loop) 🪴 Without further ado: new leaves (first one open; second one still furled) on my burgundy #Ficus. These are the first new leaves in a LONG time—it did not get enough light in that tiny apartment I just left! Now it has front row seats to the sunrise every morning 🌅 Then, we have my rehabilitated variegated #StringOfPearls, which a friend gave to me in a sad, shriveled little vine with one lonely root. Now look at it go! 😊 Bonus pics to use all 5 spaces (why not?): watered all my growing babies and #Propagation s this morning. I love these cute 1” clear plastic pots! They are perfect for propagating! A huge Thank You 🙏 to Stephanie @stephonicle for so generously sharing some variegated SOH cuttings with me 💚🤍🩷. It’s been a minute 🤪 since I attempted keeping SOH (which was not very successful btw ☹️). I’m ready now to jump back in, with Steph’s encouragement 👍🙌📣!! So I’m trying 1 on soil and the other on sphagnum moss. Both are in partially opened ziplock bags so humidity is high but there’s airflow.
