Friday late afternoon here 🌅. Why is it I get a burst of energy around 4pm???🤷‍♀️ 💨 💪 . Just had to pot up these cuttings from a very large 🐼 Panda kalanchoe I hacked up last weekend 🐼. Did a little rearranging, a little sweeping 🧹. Now I’m tired and want to just sit and admire 🤫🤭🫣🤗🫠. Here is another photograph that I took of Cypress trees along the Withlacoochee River. That may also be an American beauty berry bush that is growing wild at the bottom left of the photo. This is about 6 miles west of The headwaters photo that I posted. Good evening everyone. Is now 9:35 PM in West Central Florida and it’s still 90°. We had a very hot day here no rain. Here’s a photo, update, of my crêpe myrtle tree that I call Phoenix. This is a tree that was severely damaged several years ago by severe weather, including a hurricane and looked like it was dead. Late last year I took a chainsaw and, sadly, cut it down. It is now about 7 feet high and it’s been blooming for over a month. Notice these are more succulent type plants. My cactus are in a special greenhouse tent that I have in my front. Good Thursday to everyone. It’s another hot one here in West Central Florida. Hopefully we’ll get some rain this afternoon. I found two more monarch caterpillars on my milkweed plants this morning. That makes three at all. Normally, I would be upset if caterpillars were eating my plants, but this is why I am growing them. Hello everyone hope you and your plants are growing. Here’s an interesting Vine that I saw flowering while mowing in the back of my property this evening. I had to look this up. It’s identified as Japanese honeysuckle. Of course it’s invasive and it was brought into Florida over 200 years ago as ground cover. I thought it looked pretty cool so its took a picture. Hello everyone, now the moment that not everyone has been waiting for. 🤔 I dug up a small, about 8 inches, American beauty berry plant a few minutes ago. This is the first time in 40 years I didn’t run over them with a lawnmower. Wow these things have the roots from hell. The first picture is after I dug it up. I laid on the driveway took a picture of it with the roots the second picture is after I potted it. If I were to sell these plants I would sell them $12 each or two for $8 or three for $5. Take as many as you want free. Hello again, everyone. A while back I saw a special on Monarch butterflies. I found it very interesting. It showed the migration path of these wonderful insects. What I found the most interesting is that one of their migration paths goes north of Florida cuts West to Alabama and keeps going. None of the other migration paths come near Florida. However, I’ve been seeing them from time to time, including some around my property. I am not sure what brings them down here. One of the reasons may be milkweed. According to the Internet, they’re the only plant that monarchs will lay their eggs on. About two months ago I started a row of milkweed. I just received more seeds in the mail and I’m going put them in planters today. Hello wonderful and blooming plant people. I hope you are well. Here is an update on my Chaste tree. When I received it, it was riddled with black fungus and infested with insects with a considerable amount of damage. I took the plant out of the pot inspected the roots thoroughly put it in fresh soil in a bigger pot. I then sprayed it with knee oil. The next day I sprayed it with copper fungicide, several doses. I then pruned off all the fungus and infested leaves. It seems to be doing very well and has exceeded my expectations of it for recovery. In a few days, I will plant it in the ground. Here is a plant(s) that has been growing on my property for decades. To me it was, just, another noxious weed that I have been cutting down forever. I was going to cut more of it down today but I stopped, took a photo and identified it. This is American Beauty Berry. it’s hard for me to believe that people actually pay money for these plants when I have been cutting them down for years. On Amazon they run around $32. However I have no intention of a monetizing them. But I may dig one up and stick it in a pot. Good, Saturday, morning to all you wonderful plant people. I had a lot to do out of my property today. So I got up at 6:30 AM, which is 15 minutes before sunrise on West Central Florida. It’s much cooler at that time . It is now 11:35 and I’m about finished. While mowing my property I found some pretty cool plants growing. I thought I would share them here. The first one (left) is an air plant, there are many of those growing around here. The second one is a prickly pear. I discovered growing out front. I marked it as I am going as I’m going dig it up and put it in a pot.
