We got our heat-reflective sun tarps up, so I’ve been moving things in and out of the garage all day. So excited to see my greenhouse in a happier place! I’m sure, like so many of us, we are trying to counter all this crazy weather. It’s been so unpredictable; we’ve gone from a couple of days into the 80’s to freezing again! Which isn’t uncommon for Utah weather… but omg my poor plants. 🌱 😂 So we got smart and put a heat-reflecting greenhouse tarp over the roof. I can’t believe how much it lowers the heat! So happy to have done it. I am so excited here. I think my Indian shot is coming back, which is so great! We have a patch of middle dirt between us and the neighbors. I’ve been trying to find things to grow there, and I finally planted two jujube and an almond tree this year, but the Indian shot I planted last year is coming back! That’s pushing the zone here with 4 trees that shouldn’t grow here. Second year: two olive trees 🫒; second year: myer lemon tree (although it’s taken a bad hit; my plant killer saga got to it.. 🤦‍♀️) then today I got to plant my cold hardy orange 🍊 mandarin tree! - that’s a first year, but it’s two gallons so it’s pretty ready for this! Can’t wait. It’s going to take a lot more to get it to survive, but the start is great! 😊 Teddy was helping me figure out how big our hole was. 🤣 I love Ted, and Awsha and her daughter Siggy were out sleeping while I worked around them. I’m SOOOO EXCITED and HAPPY! 👀 Looks like my 1 year old Hoya Mathilde is likely going to 🌸 BLOOM 🌸 like crazy for the 1st time (and hopefully keep all her NEW 20+ penduncles for next time 😮) She stopped growing leaves and is only growing flowers, even on all her long empty leaf stems. 😍. She’s a 1st time bloomer! OMG so exciting to watch it go through all these stages 🎉💚👏🏻 1st time I’ve ever been through a Hoya blooming process. None of my other Hoyas have bloomed before. About a year ago, a stray cat got stuck in my pool area after falling through the birdcage mesh. It then proceeded to wreak havoc on my garden, trying to escape my dog The cat was fortunately unharmed, but my young burro's tail, Mule, was broken and scattered all over the ground. I was devastated because I had just gotten him looking nice and lush, and now he was in pieces 😢; he looked such a mess I couldn't stand it 😭; it really felt like the end of the world right there. However, Mule was still my plant baby, so I couldn't just give up on him 😔. So I salvaged what I could, repotted every last piece into a hanging basket, and prayed he'd pull through. However, little did I know that burro’s tails are some of the few succulents that will propagate from anything; so three burro tails became several and counting, and the scattered mess is quickly becoming the picture-perfect hanging succulent I always dreamed of, and it's all thanks to that cat 🤭. #HappyPlants #PlantsMakePeopleHappy #PlantAddict #NewGrowth #PropagationStation #SucculentLove #PetsAndPlants #PlantLove #HangingPlants #BurrosTail #SucculentSquad #Succulents

It was in soil that was hard as a rock. He brought it home to me and I repotted it. It threw a big fit, lost leaves and even dropped whole branches. Yesterday, I saw 3 new stems (the other one is on the other side) busting out of both stalks. I didn't know that it would randomly decide to grow stems wherever it wanted to!! I thought that I would have to cut it to get it to do that! Apparently not! I'm so excited to see it fill back in!! 😊

Well, I told myself this spring and summer I was going to slow down and just take a break from getting anything new… so naturally I had to buy some plants. 🤦‍♀️ I got a new cute kumquat, I added a parent of the Meiwa. This particular kumquat is a rather old variety: it dates back to the 1700s. It’s called a ‘Marumi’ kumquat. I added this one; replaced a plant I love that passed away; my bad 😞 and then I got some mystery caladium bulbs; as well as some more mystery Hoyas. So excited 😆 but also starting to wonder where I’m going to put everything. I have a problem with not doing things on a small scale. UPDATES I’ve been on and off Greg a lot, since I started my plant journey. I love sharing my plants and helping people with their questions the best I can, but sometimes life just gets in the way. This room, my main plant room has benn under renovation and is still not finished, but we are getting close. Work, as usual, has been completely chaotic and I have been super involved in other projects whoch barely leave me any time for gregers (I hope I wrote that right). So as I am sharing how my plant space is coming along, I can also tell that most of my plants do not grow due to the fact that I keep cutting them down and propagating. I cannot show you how big my monstera albo was, but I can tell you it was higher than 170 cm and now that’s her with 3 leaves. Anyways I will try to update my oasis as well, and we will see how this goes, but I will try to keep up with Greg. Also I have this New Year’s resolution where I wanted to read 1 book every month. I’m really into witch stuff at the moment, but my favourite book of all times is 100 years of solitude, any recommendations?
