How do I make her stop? πŸ˜…πŸŒΈ

My #Hoya Mathilde keeps putting out new #peduncles, and now the oldest leaves are turning yellow...

I suspect she is putting ALL her energy into making flowers">#flowers, so what to do? πŸ₯΄πŸƒπŸͺ΄

It's my first year with basically all my hoyas throwing out peduncles, and I'm slightly panicking 🀣🌸

She is in #pon and has a big water reservoir, and has been like that since last year, happily #growing. πŸ’§

Her roots">#roots look really good and healthy. Could it just be that she wants to be up potted to something bigger? πŸ€”

I have had flatmites on a little handful of hoyas, but I have looked her over carefully with a loupe and can't find anything 😬πŸͺ΄βœ¨οΈ

I don't own any hoyas [don't tell my Hoya retusa that. He's a baby and still grass, not a Hoya yet], but your Mathilde is soo bushy! I don't see why won't you let her bloom! It's normal for old leaves to drop, and you can always reset!

I'm hoping i can get a Mathilde and her brother Chouke soon, and maybe lacunosa just coz it's cinnamon and a native, i love the minis they're soo cute!
@Araceae I love the tiny flowers on retusa!!!! Mine isn’t blooming right now but I also got mine as a babe
@Boymom-plantmom that's pretty! A full basket of Hoya retusa is one of the best! [compared to similar String-of plants] Mine is still grass tho… How long will it take to get like that?
@Hoyaobsessed Hey Avalone, can you provide any advice to help with yellowing leaves as the flowers grow?
@Araceae I want to say 3 or 4 years. I got it as a single baby from the botanical gardens out here in Memphis.
Your Hoya is sooo pretty!! Great job!!! The leaves that are yellowing are they just at the base of your plant ??
@Hoyaobsessed well, they are creeping up from the bottom πŸ€”βœ¨οΈ
But I made a choice when they opened this evening.. the smell is absolutely horrendous! To me.. it smells like horse poop πŸ˜…πŸ€£

So they had to go.. I cut every single peduncle I could find.. πŸ₯΄πŸƒ
It literally made me wanna throw up, and I went looking for what the heck was smelling so bad in the apartment 🀣🀣

But they were pretty! 🀩✨️🌸
@Araceae @Boymom-plantmom @Shells_Garden
The solution became to cut off all the peduncles because the smell made me wanna throw up 🀭✨️🌸

Sure was pretty, tho πŸ˜…
@Linx oh no!!!! You cut them off !!! Oh my !! Could have put it outside??? I think the bottom leaves yellowing would be they are sitting close to the medium and a bit too much moisture exposure. With the blooms on it you could have sold that for good money !!! Hoya krohniana and lauconsa similar blooms and smell similar and the smell@is wonderful!!!! Hoya shooting star cool blooms but no fragrance ….
@Hoyaobsessed ah yes, but the Mathilde is available in almost every store where I live, so they do not sell, and I don't intend on selling, I want to grow her big and beautiful, as I got her as a little starter myself 🀩✨️

It is not warm enough to put hoyas outside this time of year. It could still dip below freezing at night πŸ₯΄

And honestly, I'm into hoya for the leaves! πŸƒπŸͺ΄βœ¨οΈ

I have 2 krohniana that I pluck the flowers off every time they open, too, because the smell is SO overwhelming. πŸ˜…
Tho not as bad as the Mathilde, imo.

If she was a valuable plant, I wouldn't have cut them, but she is just gonna be living with me, and I have plans for trying to make a very splashy hoya, because one of the vines are showing a lot of splash, so I wanna try that out, and maybe that could be worth something one day πŸ˜…

The moisture hasn't changed, tho, so I'm still worried for the yellowing leaves πŸ€”
I'll have to keep an eye on her, and if they still keep yellowing, maybe it's time for an up pot ☺️✨️πŸͺ΄
