@Minthe how long ago did you plant them?
@Seedstarter in late August. I'm hella late aren't I
@Minthe you may have to get a grow light that may help it grow
@SuavePuriri I don't think I can find a grow light that easily here π₯² I might try to find one cheap
@Minthe germination for strawberry seeds can take about 14-56 days; the soil should be moist (not soggy), and they should be getting plenty of light. Knowing that, how far did you plant them? Strawberry seeds are tiny, and with tinnier seeds, it is best not to bury them too deep, or they won't get the light that they need; it is better to sprinkle them on top of the soil and push them lightly into the dirt to prevent them from moving.
@Seedstarter I uhhh buried em 1cm deep. How do I get em out? They're tinyyy
@Minthe check online or a local@pet store. Maybe a reptile lamp of some sort?
Iβm in Florida our climate is similar. If you start strawberries now keep them in full sunlight. Know growing them from seeds is challenging for experienced growers! Patients is key. At this point use a tiny rake or fork to move some soil from the top of you seed bed. Just turning it over a centimeter with a fork will give those seeds exposure to the light they need. Less than 14 hours of sunlight. A grow lamp could help but you have good sun exposure where your country is. Your climate is mild and they will grow. Only mist the soil when the seeds are germinating. You donβt want to drive them further in the soil. The idea is to keep their soil moist not wet. Best of luck!
@Minthe, you could try taking some soil from the top away and stop where you think the seeds are. That could help with more light exposure. I know that waiting is the worst part of starting from seed. However, I am addicted to the high I get from watching plants pop out of their pods and knowing that my patience and hard work have paid off, so I can't get enough of it.
@Pineapplemom wait how long do these seeds take to sprout? I read somewhere that they need 7-46 days
The more sun they get the faster theyβll germinate. Inside is what I would suggest. Thereβs no way to say for sure when since you planted very much too deep so thatβs why I suggest turning that soil so it will expose them to the sun better. It will give you a better chance of some of your seeds surviving and making berries by spring. Here I plant in September in trays and take them indoors when the weather is too cold. We get maybe 1 to 2 weeks of cold weather.
@Pineapplemom today I removed the excess soil and I found a lil bebe seed rooting! π₯Ή Glad I caught it in time, I don't think it would come out otherwise. AAAAAA I'M EXCITED
@Minthe I am so happy!! I canβt wait to see pictures as they all sprout and mature!
@Pineapplemom me too omagad I got so relieved π I thought I was doing smth wrong. I mean I did BUT NOT ME, THE INSTRUCTIONS
