The newest Hoyas arrived today, along with my replacement for an orange tree that had to be replaced from bad shipping as before. I hate when plants have rough shipping and can’t pull through; it just makes me feel bad. 😢 Besides my last random order of momo strawberries 🍓, I think that’s everything for a little while. ☺️ #HappyPlants #PlantsMakePeopleHappy #PlantAddict #TheThread #TheWateringHole #NewGrowth #PropagationStation #PlantTherapy #GrowLights #PetsAndPlants #PlantCorner #BeforeAndAfter #PlantShelfie #RarePlants #PlantID
@Idplantthat Beee...utiful Hoya!! Did they have tags on them?? What are they? And Ohhh how interesting Black pepper corns!!! 😍
@princesspitstop yes! They are labeled; let’s see here.. first post Nabawanensis Variegated Hoya; 2nd Piper Nigrum Variegated; 3rd was a freebie she sent me, I’ll have to go outside and check. 4th Hoya Lacunosa 'Black Aurora' very last photo of the original post is also a Piper Nigrum. Second post first two are the same.. second to last on the second post Hoya Versteegil and very last is a sunstressed Elephant Hoya
@Idplantthat I love all of your new babies!!! 😍
@Idplantthat I'm getting kinda worried. I'm not able to hardly get around on my patio everything is growing crazy out there!! I've got to do something before winter because I'm telling you everything is NOT going to fit back into the apartment. 😂 I might have to leave everything outside and put a tarp up to enclose the area just to keep the cold out.
@princesspitstop oh no! If your husband finds any PVC pipes, make a little structure out of PVCs and a tarp if you have any C7/C9 (personally I prefer C9) Christmas lights underneath. Just make sure the lights don’t rest on plants or tarps, and they will generate enough heat that they’ll never freeze and can keep them alive. I’ve done this with my pushing the zone plants. 🥰 I’m in zone 6 and I planted zone 7-8 olives and two citrus trees in the ground, so that’s what I did, but I do more than that lol. You are in Texas, I’d think this would work like a dream for your set up.
@Idplantthat That's a great idea! Actually my patio is enclosed on all sides except 1. We can staple a tarp on that side to close it up then add Christmas lights on the inside or even put a small heater out there. It rarely gets down to freezing and when it does it's only for a night or two. 🥰👍 It sure beats bringing everything in and putting them back out every other day. Ain't nobody got time for that! Haha
@princesspitstop heck no! I’m all about what’s not going to throw out my back. (Omg; I sound so old right now.. I never thought I’d be the person to ever say that line.. ha ha life, it’s got funny way of making you humble) ☺️ and look at that you know are making your plant spot all lit up! 🥰 if it’s above 45 in the winter you can always crack that tarp and let the light in, and then just hang it back up or whatever that night. I found those little command strips hold wires and lights better than I imagined. ☺️ if you have any reflective tape or like the reflective bubble wrap you can bounce your grow lights off it and save yourself some money in the winter. Also adding like a plastic shipping container with lava rocks and water maintains heat as well, especially in the winter. All cost-effective ways to cut a budget a little.. it’s not pretty but dang it works! 🤣
@Idplantthat You are full of smart tricks and tips 🤓 I love picking your brain!! 😍 I've never used Command strips before. Do they still stick if they get wet? I bet they would make it super easy to put the tarp up with which is going to be very helpful if it's easy because another thing about Texas weather is it could be freezing then have a beautiful sunny day the next! It's weird but all I've ever known. 😊
@princesspitstop ha ha ha I love Mother Nature; she’s so unpredictable, that it’s only predictably unpredictable. 😉 I think some command strips are water-resistant, but honestly, I’m not 100 percent sure if they are. Maybe look for some on Amazon or something. But if it’s a tarp that has the rings, you can just hook it or unhook it. Luckily, you probably won’t have a ton of wind in that pocket. But I could be very wrong. 😑 😅
@Idplantthat From what I remember from last winter no not much wind at all. If that's the case with the holes I can just screw some little hooks up into the wood and call it a day! 😁 I say "I" when what I mean is "he" hahaha I just put it on the honey doo list. 🥰🤪
@princesspitstop ha ha ha if anything like me doing it… better ask the hubby I can do it but it probably won’t last 48 hours and we’ll be chasing a tarp down the street like a kite. 🤣🤣🤣
@Idplantthat Bahahahaha 💗🤪 Yes ma'am! 100%
@princesspitstop “..let’s go fly a kite 🪁 up to the highest height..” 🎶 - I loved Mary Poppins as a kid 🫶🏻🤣 still do! ☺️
