Need monstera care tips, please!
Hey friends! I need some advice on a few different babies and a few greenhouse cabinet questions!! β€οΈ
I have 2 large Monstera Deliciosa both in 10-12 in pots, whatβs your alls care routine? I havenβt seemed to hit the nail on the head just yet and I know they can be happier!!!
My 2 newest babies my Variegated Monstera Lechleriana and my Philo Plowmanii, whatβs yours all care routine and tips and tricks? Should they both be in my ikea cabinet when I finish it?
Next question! Can I have saucers with water and leca to promote humidity, instead of a small humidifier? At least for the moment?
Sorry to pick everyoneβs brains this post just thought it would be easier to make one than 7 π€¦π»ββοΈ
My variegated Burle Marx after some beautiful leaves has popped out 2 fully green ones, is this normal? Is it reverting? How can I promote more variegation? Itβs in moss
And care tips and tricks for a beautiful and large Monstera Dubia!
Pic of my Albo cutting thatβs got some juicy roots βΊοΈ

@Mrgncrch About the humidity in the cabinet: I'm in the middle of researching getting a milsbo cabinet, and I remember reading that you can increase the humidity in the cabinet by adding weather seal foam strips to the doors. But then you will also have less airflow so would need a little fan. πͺ΄π
@Mrgncrch Also you will want to have a hygrometer + thermometer in the cabinet anyway, so you could test whether the dishes of water do increase the relative humidity or not πͺ΄π
@Mrgncrch Ahhhh what gorgeous Monsteras. I have two Monsteras in 14 inch pots only because I didnβt want to repot them this year or next year.
I wished I could help you with the others. My guess would put them in your IKEA cabinet. From what Iβve seen in Facebook groups thatβs what they do with theirs.

@TwistedThreads Whatβs your secret? Yours are GORGEOUS
A humidifier is always the best for higher humidity plants. You don't need expensive ones. I snagged some on Amazon for $35 and they work just as fine as expensive ones.

Monsteras - Light, light, light! They love light and you'll get great fenestrations.
Var. Burle - give it more light as well. It's normal to have all green leaves, but more light will give you a mix.

@Mrgncrch Is your milsbo already assembled? I am about to order one, but I have a question, can it be freestanding or does it have to be attached to the wall? πͺ΄π
@LuxuryMint So far freestanding!
@Mrgncrch I have a Milsbo and it has 1/8th inch weather stripping along the doors. It has holes on top and bottom for cords on lights and fans. Mine has four fans. I have both full spectrum white and violet lights. Youβll need an additional air vent to serve as an air exchange or your air will become limited on the cabinet. I used mini humidifiers in there. I used water trays as well. I now use larger humidifiers but when it gets hot in my area, the humidity comes with it so Iβm not using the humidifiers one the cabinet right now. My system has temperature and humidity probes to turn certain features on. I also get alerts for temps being too high.
Keep in mind that the more plants you put in it, youβll have higher humidity. You can also place a cup of water in the cabinet on each shelf if you donβt have the mini humidifiers. The plants will do better with an increase in humidity however, donβt forget that the weather stripping will keep all of that humidity in. Your humidity may be at 90% if you donβt have an exhaust fan to help pull most out.
Hereβs mine with the extras. I currently leave the doors open to let the humidity out.

Answering what I can π The Leca + water in a saucer will definitely help more than nothing. When I was chatting with a lady at the nursery about my geo she actually recommended that. I have one monstera in an 8β pot that had grown soo much and another baby Thai constellation that popped out two larger leaves since Iβve had her. They love a lot of light and I supplement with grow lights. I also let them dry out a good bit more than some of my other plants between watering and they seem to really like that. I wouldnβt sweat it too much if your Burl Marx pops out a few green leaves I think thatβs normal. Mine just popped out a fully green one then went back to a half moon with variegation. If it pops out an additional 2 more green leaves then I might be looking to cut it to the last node that has a variegated leaf. I have the opposite problem with my ppp the darn thing popped out 4 all pink leaves π¬ your albo is beautiful π !! Iβm on the hunt for one that fits my budget currently π
@Nataliesplants Thank you for everything!! I got the Albo off fb for 45$!!!
@Mrgncrch what a steal!!! Iβll have to look there too Iβve just been looking on eBay and Etsy
I keep my plowmanii in my Milsbo and itβs been thriving π I also keep a couple small bowls with small rocks inside 2 shelf levels inside the cabinet, and I do mist in there every few days but I did just but a humidifier that @AnthuriumQueen recommended (which is great btw!) and I also just open the doors and let the mist roll inside from the humidifier. I mainly keep my fav philos and anthuriums in the cabinet. The fun thing is you can put whatever makes you happy in itπ₯°
