Alright, I completely caved and finally got two little cuties that Iโm really hoping to just as healthy as the photos! @Jho was kind enough to show me this seller a while back, and I decided alright letโs do it! First is a variegated billietiae, and second is a caramel marble fire tiger ๐
Then Iโm so excited to find a variegated piper nigrum! (Aka a black peppercorn plant!) I have a regular peppercorn vine that is climbing with my vanilla, so Iโm excited to add this to my other variegated vanilla and now variegated peppercorn! Yay! The pepper.. is though is from a different seller Iโve used a few times and familiar with her plants, she grows amazing plants. ๐ฅฐ #HappyPlants #PlantsMakePeopleHappy #PlantAddict #TheThread #TheWateringHole #NewGrowth #PropagationStation #PlantTherapy #GrowLights #OrchidLovers #PetsAndPlants #BeforeAndAfter #PlantCorner #PlantShelfie #RarePlants #PlantID #Philodendron #PhiloFlock
@DreamMachine ha ha thanks! They have some great deals. I couldnโt pass them up when I saw it ha ha. One day Iโll master this willpower thing; till then itโs plants, plants, plants ha ha. Iโm excited to see how these Billieโs grow! Iโve never had one before so Iโm very excited. ๐ ๐คช
Then these were calling my name. No more plants for a while. I gotta cut down to a plant a month, and focus on making some cuttings and get ready to clean out the greenhouse. Greg wonโt let me add them, so this is the rest! Hoya Nabawanensis Variegated, Hoya AH027 (Elephant)
Sunstressed Elephant (Photo), Hoya Versteegil, Hoya Lacunosa 'Black Aurora', Hoya Clemensiorum 'Black'
Sunstressed Elephant (Photo), Hoya Versteegil, Hoya Lacunosa 'Black Aurora', Hoya Clemensiorum 'Black'
@DreamMachine, can you tell me if there is another name for the elephant? I keep trying to add it, and it wouldnโt work. So Iโm sure itโs an app bug, but I thought Iโd ask you since you know more about Hoya. Is there another name for the elephant?
Yesssss, congrats!!! I saw the Fire Tiger disappear and was hoping you got it. Gotta get it a Billie buddy too while youโre buying! ๐ Those prices are hard to resist. Hereโs my Venom tissue culture I got from the same place. I LOVE that Lacunosa black aurorora too!! I just found out about the BA literally this week, but have had my eye out for a Lacunosa Laos for a long time. The SAME seller had a Lacunosa Laos Sp and I slept on it, it disappeared, and Iโve had regret ever since. So the lesson is, if you master willpower, you may end up with regret. ๐ Enjoy the new babies! ๐ฑ ๐ฟ
Ohhh how fun!! Youโre living our dreams! ๐ @jho! Iโve been thinking about you!! Look at this ridiculous Jacklyn!
@MamaLinne Hey Deb!! Dang, look at her go!! ๐ and a new leaf popping up, she is happy!! Is that that the OG??
@Jho it is! Sheโs tried to kick the bucket 3 times, but this is the most growth Iโve gotten so far! Trying to decide when to change transitioning to a bigger pot and removing from humidity cabinet. ๐ฌ
@Idplantthat I agree with @MamaLinne that you are living our dreams! ๐ The only plant I think Iโve even heard of is the Billietiae! ๐
@Idplantthat omg the variegated nabawenensis and clemensiorum have been at the very top of wishlist this year ๐คค๐คค๐คค๐ฑ๐ฑ๐ฑ you lucky duck!! H AH027 is the most specific you could be for that hoya, so Greg doesnโt have it listed!
@Idplantthat I feel you when you go to buy fertilizer or a new pot or something and end up bringing home 8 plants with you too! ๐๐ฑโค๏ธ
@MamaLinne geez, youโve had to tame that thing like a wild mustang. ๐ I hope she continues to behave this go around! She looks great. @SolidGold hey Aeriel, the seller is Plant The Studio on palmstreet or they have a website too but the PS shop seems to stay more updated. Theyโre local to me so Iโve always stopped by and done pickups and could see their setup - pretty legit! They specialize in rare tissue cultures but it looks like they are starting to grow some into plantlets before sale too. I snagged my venom for I think $25 and an orange princess plantlet for $18 as example. Also got pink black velvet TC and ghost Polly plantlet from them - all pretty healthy.
@Jho Thank you! That seems pretty decent especially for rare cultures. I wanted some of those too! Healthy is one of my top priorities unless Iโm trying to save a store plant!
@Jho ha ha ha I love that motto! If you master willpower, youโll live with regret. Ha ha ๐คฃ I appreciate you indulging my lack of self-control. ๐คฃ I kinda feel like I canโt travel or go anywhere anymore, and I canโt really eat the foods I love anymore (my health requires me to go gluten and dairy-free. I miss them so much), and if I have to have strength for that, Iโm not holding myself back on things I can do. ๐โบ๏ธ SHUT THE FRONT DOOR! Is that the tissue you got in the winter? ๐ฅถ I remember you saying during the winter you were trying your hand at tissue cultures! But Holy cow! Itโs a monster! Itโs absolutely gorgeous. How big is that leaf? It looks pretty large?? ๐คฏ
@captainstardust hi Emily, ๐ I actually live in a desert ๐๏ธ in Utah, but I have a serious love of tropical plants. My last trip I ever went on was to Costa Rica. ๐จ๐ท We stayed in the rainforest and the beach, and between the two, Iโd take the rainforest any day of the week! It was incredible and only fueled my love of the tropical, but when I went, we had this impression guide, and my brother speaks 7 languages, so I always have a translator ๐, but the guide was saying how many microclimates weโd be driving through, and you could literally see the difference between all the plants. It was incredible and inspiring, so I learned how to play with creating microclimates in your own areas. So I grow differently depending on what groups I have and where. ๐โบ๏ธ
@MamaLinne oh my gosh, Deb! Sheโs so adorable. I love Jacklynโs. I know this is for Josh, but I just had to say itโs adorable and itโs so dang cute! ๐ฅฐ Itโs going to get massive, so excited to see its progress.
@debbiedo ha ha ha between you and Greg! I hardly even know half of what I grow. I just know I water them, and they stay alive. ๐คฃ Anything beyond that, itโs all Greek to me. ๐คฆโโ๏ธ
@DreamMachine no, it absolutely does not, and it doesnโt like me trying to add it. ๐คฃ As soon as they get bigger since they are wishlisters for you, Iโll send you some cuttings when they get bigger; you know me, it might take a minute, but Iโll get them to you. ๐คช
@Idplantthat well since I highjacked your post, Iโm happy to have you join in the conversation! ๐โค๏ธ
@SolidGold I donโt mind at all, and I know Julia wouldnโt mind more people shopping at her store. ๐คฃ Sheโs an absolute gem and gives great cuttings generally rooted. Not only does she send them in a medium, but she actually sends them with plant clips and thick plastic containers so you can just put them straight onto the shelf. Itโs amazing ๐คฉ and I absolutely think you are right. I canโt go to a nursery without having an adult. I absolutely will not adult at a nursery, and all self-control is left in the car. ๐ ๐ฉต https://thehoyatrove.com
@MamaLinne please highjack away! The more conversations, the better. I enjoy talking to people, especially about plants or animals ๐
@Idplantthat me too!
@Jho she has given me like 800 new gray hairs, thatโs for sure! I finally decided I didnโt care anymore, and now sheโs decided to take off. So Iโve begun calling her the cat of the Alocasia world.
@Idplantthat haha hey, I endorse this plan!! Let the lack of willpower fly for the plants!! They may take the gluten and dairy but NOT the ๐ฟ, or the ๐ฑ๐ ๐ Yep, thatโs the one!! It surprised me too, because I had to go into Palmstreet earlier to remind myself what all I had bought from them. I bought the tissue culture on Dec 15th so about 6.5 months growth from the baggy? Not sure about the sizeโฆ Iโm traveling for work so itโs not near me. Hereโs a diff angle from this am with hand for reference and a peek at the new leaf coming up. ๐ฅณ
@MamaLinne hahaha! She just wanted to know exaaaaaaactly how much you cared. ๐ฅฐ Apparently she was happy with the answer!
@jho @Idplantthat oh I just love that! ๐ I canโt remember ever regretting a purchase, but there have definitely been several times that I regretted a NON purchase ๐๐ซ
Also Rachel, Iโm going to make a proper post about this soon, but Iโm so excited to tell you I have my first pedunkle ๐ On my sweet little Bella, and she has three ๐ฑ๐ฎโ๐จ๐ฑ๐ฅณ I havenโt even potted her up properly yet, sheโs still in a cup of perlite! and I think, didnโt you just get a Bella? Possibly a variegated version? They are prolific bloomers!! ๐ผ๐บโฅ๏ธ๐ฟ๐

@Jho I love it, thatโs incredible for only being 6.5 months old from a tissue culture. Thatโs seriously some incredible growth. @DreamMachine I do believe you told me about the Bella, but I donโt remember for sure. Those are so cute! So are the star-shaped ones, or are they a little different? I do thoroughly love๐ฅฐ seeing your posts. You and Josh are both great growers, Iโm always impressed by you guys. โบ๏ธ
@Idplantthat aww, thanks sweetie pie, and so are YOU!! When you say star shaped ones, are you talking about a flower or a hoya leaf shape?
@DreamMachine you know, I didnโt know they came in star-shaped leaves. ๐ ๐คฆโโ๏ธ I do not know Hoyas yet. Iโm still reading and learning about these little cuties, and there is no storage of varieties, holy moly! ๐คฏ but yes, I did mean star-shaped flowers ๐
@Idplantthat bahaha, you know, I asked that, but I donโt think there are any star shaped leaves ๐ค ๐
Were you thinking of these flowers? The Hoya multiflora? Or were you thinking of those gigantic alien star flowered hoyas that we were talking about earlier? When we saw those pictures of the giant blooms in someoneโs hand?
Were you thinking of these flowers? The Hoya multiflora? Or were you thinking of those gigantic alien star flowered hoyas that we were talking about earlier? When we saw those pictures of the giant blooms in someoneโs hand?
@DreamMachine okay, those ones are seriously monsters! I think itโs wild the two different blooms on what appears to be the same plant?? Iโm familiar with the shooting star multiflora, itโs actually one of the very first Hoyas I ever got. Still hasnโt bloomed but it was a plug, so Iโm thinking itโs gonna take a lot longer.. and well we know I just recently got into the Hoya game. But I donโt start small when I decide to go for something. ๐คฃ if itโs overwhelming, intense, slightly overbearing and obnoxious.. hmm hold on Iโll be there! ๐คฆโโ๏ธ
@Ary0905 Oooh! Is that a Batik Syngonium? ๐ฅฐ
@Ary0905 it looks like a batik, but it definitely sounds like the app knows more than I would. Ha ha, regardless, sheโs striking and beautiful! ๐ป Welcome to the Greg community! Youโll enjoy it here. ๐โบ๏ธ
@Idplantthat thank you for the welcome ๐ค๐ค btw, I looked up what โbatikโ is, I did not realize how many different syngoniums exist!! https://gardenerspath.com/plants/houseplants/best-arrowhead-varieties/
@Ary0905 holy moly! I didnโt realize how many just allusions there are! Itโs so crazy because half kinda look the same but settle on slight differences. One of my favorites though is the Orm Nak. I have one, and sheโs one of my all-time favorites. ๐คฃ Iโve got quite a few and absolutely love them. If you ever want to expand your collection, let me know and as long as youโre in the USA ๐บ๐ธ, I can gift you some cuttings. โบ๏ธ
@debbiedo - was going to tell you, I have some cuttings that have rooted beautifully and are just about ready in a couple of weeks to get shipped out. I have a Hoya friend Iโm building a box for, so Iโll send yours out at the same time. Iโll email you for the address next week. Just so you know โบ๏ธ๐ Iโll throw in a couple of extra things if you want as well! If I have anything you like or have wanted, please let me know, and if I have cuttings or an extra, Iโd be happy to share! Otherwise, here is the Vicks. Mind you, they just have a cuttings pot I threw them in, so itโs not gonna look great by any means ๐คฃ
@Idplantthat They really do only have slight differences for the most part ๐คฃ๐คฃ
I looked that up (bc of coooourse they didnโt picture it in the link lol)
GORGEOUS to say the least!!
I absolutely love pink or pink tinted plants!!!
Thank you!! That is so so sweet of you! I am located in the US! Near Raleigh, NC ๐๏ธ๐บ๐ธ
By the way, I checked out your page, IMPRESSIVE collection to say the least!!!!!!๐ฟ

@Idplantthat OMG those babies are BEAUTIFUL! ๐ฅน
Iโm not sure Iโve fully looked through your oasis before ๐ฎ๐ฎ๐ฎ I now feel like a TOTAL slacker for sometimes thinking that 100 is too much to manage ๐
I donโt think I saw one in your collection, but if you by chance have a pup from a Gold Dust Dracaena, Iโd love that to give to a friend.
Thank you SO much for sharing so generously, you are awesome ๐คฉ ๐ฅนโค๏ธ

@Ary0905 thanks! I do have a slight obsession problem (by slight I mean like close to being a hoarder of plants; is that really possible though? Isnโt a hoarder just a nursery ha ha ๐คฃ) Iโd be happy to share and give you a few cuties! Feel free to email me and weโll chat about it. If I donโt respond to your email then let me know; sometimes I donโt get it. ๐คฃ redrach07@gmail.com
@debbiedo I can see; for sure! I know I have an extra younger Milky Way cast iron plant; itโs not a vining but rather a clumping growth habit but looks very similar and quite easy to care for if they would like that one, if I donโt have a dracaena. Let me check it out tomorrow and get back to you. Itโs funny we chat so much, but I realize most of us probably donโt know what the other person grows other than our post. ๐ 100 plants is still a lot of plants, donโt count yourself short. ๐ฅฐ
@Idplantthat You are SO SO sweet! Iโd actually love your opinion on the plant Iโm looking for. My friend sent me this picture last week. Her dad died unexpectedly and she saw this plant at the funeral home. She said we should try to find one when she gets home and Iโm trying to find one to give her. Do you agree that itโs a Gold Dust Dracaena?
