Well, what can I say? I ran out of spots today in my overflow containers, so when my impulse Japanese strawberries came ๐Ÿ“, Iโ€™m so excited, you guys! My Japanese strawberries ๐Ÿ“ are Momo Ichigo; Kaorino; Akihime; Japanese Angel strawberries. ๐Ÿ“ So this was the solution to my problem. ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿคฃ My dogs donโ€™t use this old pool anymore. So I drilled holes, filled it, and made it into a hidden strawberry garden in my backyard. ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿ๐ŸŒธ๐Ÿฉต. Iโ€™m going to just copy and paste some quick Google definitions on them if anyone is interested. Momo Ichigo (Peach Strawberry - ๆกƒ่–ซ): Native to Tokushima, these rare berries have a distinct, subtle peach aroma and flavor. They are highly juicy, mildly sweet, and not overly sugary, delivering an incredibly refreshing profile. Kaorino (ใ‹ใŠใ‚Š้‡Ž): Translated as "scented field," this award-winning variety from Mie Prefecture is famous for its vibrant floral fragrance and honey-like sweetness. It is exceptionally low in acidity with a long conical shape and firm, juicy flesh. Akihime (ใ‚ใใฒใ‚): Developed in Shizuoka, this is one of Japanโ€™s most popular varieties. It is distinguished by its elongated shape and melt-in-your-mouth soft flesh. It is wonderfully sweet with minimal tartness, making it a favorite for both fresh eating and "all-you-can-eat" farm tours in Japan. Angel Strawberries (ๅคฉไฝฟใฎใ„ใกใ” - Tenshi no Ichigo / Awayuki): These luxurious, pale white to blush-pink strawberries have red seeds. Despite their unripe appearance, they are remarkably sweet, soft, and have a unique flavor profile that sets them apart from traditional red berries. For anyone interested in finding these here is where I got them. https://santiamnursery.com/?srsltid=AfmBOop3PBoKxCNWherx5xf55CEyQSNz_LdV7kB2VewSwX-UlLYMhTU7. #HappyPlants #PlantsMakePeopleHappy #Strawberry #PlantAddict #TheThread #TheWateringHole #PlantTherapy #PetsAndPlants #PlantCorner #BeforeAndAfter
Thatโ€™s one happy purple elephant! ๐ŸŽ‰
Good morning, that was very clever of you to use your old pool to grow your strawberries in. I was totally unaware of Japanese strawberries thank you for introducing me to them. Have a great day.๐Ÿ˜
Are they relatively easy to take care of?
@Idplantthat

I love looking at that cutie elephant's lavender face!

And...good thinking...you left the tip of his nose exposed so he could breathe!
@Idplantthat What an awesome idea!!!!! ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ˜„
@Yellowconverse they are super easy. I planted some Momo Ichigos a couple of years ago and harvested them this summer early. They were so good I had to buy more. ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿซถ๐Ÿป I live in zone 6 and they did great with my regular strawberries. ๐Ÿ“ From my understanding they can do zones 4-9 and just need chill time. But they are super delicate strawberries so thatโ€™s why I put straw down.
@Malagueรฑa, thanks! ๐Ÿ™ I didnโ€™t know they were a thing until I started reading more about strawberries. ๐Ÿ“ But omg, they are so good ๐Ÿ˜Š
@debbiedo @CutePolypremum @princesspitstop I love this little pool, and my dogs loved it. We used to put the water coming out of the trunk, but they got too big to handle such a low-impact little pool, so we had to upgrade to thicker ones they couldnโ€™t carry around. ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™€๏ธ Iโ€™m just hoping they donโ€™t carry off my strawberries or my plant killer doesnโ€™t decide to dig them all up. ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿฅฐโ˜บ๏ธ Iโ€™ll have to get a photo of my plant killer. Sheโ€™s the sweetest girl with an angel face, and when she gets caught, she freezes (sheโ€™s convinced if she doesnโ€™t move, you wonโ€™t see her; sheโ€™s only 160 pounds), but naturally, we canโ€™t see her if she doesnโ€™t move. ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™€๏ธ
@Idplantthat Your dogs are the best!!! Haha I took a picture of Bob yesterday staring me down waiting for me to take them outside.
@princesspitstop oh my gosh! I love Bob! ๐Ÿฅฐ๐Ÿ’• I just want to kiss ๐Ÿ’‹ him up! Heโ€™d be so freaked out by me. Ha ha Iโ€™d want to love him so much ๐Ÿคฃ heโ€™d just be like ah, save me from the crazy lady she wants to love me and I donโ€™t know her! But wait.. she has food.. hmm.. ๐Ÿค” ๐Ÿคฃ I always have food on me.
@Idplantthat He would be fine with it! He's pretty social. It's Blaze that I have to remind to behave when we see people on our walks. Lol sometimes it works, sometimes not so much! ๐Ÿ˜‚
@princesspitstop ha ha ha Blaze is hilarious with his personality. He does what he wants; heโ€™s got this. Itโ€™s not his fault his personality and body size donโ€™t line up. ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ
@Idplantthat I look forward to pics of your stealth plant killer LOL
