Iโ€™ve cut my Monstera Swiss Cheese and theyโ€™ve been in the water between 1-2 weeks. I change the water every 3-5 days. How long do I wait to put in soil? #HappyPlants #PlantsMakePeopleHappy #PlantAddict #NewGrowth #MonsteraMonday #Monstera
@SillyPlantGirl I generally wait until the new roots have roots (secondary roots). Iโ€™ve also had really good luck with perlite in the water. It mimics the soil and the roots that grow are more prepared for soil.
@princesspitstop has a great technique for the perlite if you are interested.
@princesspitstop Propagating any plant actually is a lot faster in moist pearlite. Either in a prop box with a lid or in a gallon Ziploc bag to hold humidity. To tell you the truth I would probably transplant into soil now in a small-ish clear pot. Just make sure you don't let the soil completely dry out in between watering. The roots are stronger than you think. But you can always leave them in the water longer until the roots grow a bit more and put on secondary roots like @IWantThatPlant suggested. ๐Ÿฅฐ Or experiment. Try out different ways and see what works best for you!
please stop calling monsteras swiss cheese plant. and the nickname for monsteras is swiss cheese plant, not monstera swiss cheese. thereโ€™s the swiss cheese plant which is your regular Monstera Deliciosa, and thereโ€™s the swiss cheese vine, which is Monstera Adansonii. so when you say monstera swiss cheese, youโ€™re basically just saying monstera monstera.
Thank you J and Heidi! Iโ€™m going to let them sit in there and grow ๐Ÿ˜Š itโ€™s my first time propagating so itโ€™s cool to watch. Iโ€™ve heard of the moist perlite, next time Iโ€™ll give that a try. Thank you for the great advice!
