How to fertilize Sprenger's Asparagus
Most potting soils come with ample nutrients which plants use to produce new growth.
By the time your plant has depleted the nutrients in its soil it’s likely grown enough to need a larger pot anyway.
To replenish this plant's nutrients, repot your Sprenger's Asparagus after it doubles in size or once a year—whichever comes first.

Finally taking off after 3yrs of touch and go!?.....maybe? Where do I go from here? Can I propagate these offshoots? This is the first time I have owned an asparagus fern (mainly cactus mom), I rescued "fernie mercury" 😂 literally rolling around in my parking lot in a busted cotton candy tub. Thought for sure he was dead. After a cpl of years of recovery and bouts of remission he is finally going crazy and now has about 5 looooonnng offshoots. I didn't even think this was a thing for this type of plant? It isn't super bushy like they are supposed to look which leads me to believe it might not be getting enough sun but my west facing windows are the only windows I have in my current apartment and the cacti get front row seats. Any advice at all?? I tried to get decent pics of it but the offshoots are like 4ft long and the put is above my head lol First time writing/long time plant lover 🙏🏼

Help me make her thrive! I got it in a plant subscription my partner got for me and I am just struggling with making it thrive. I've had it for a few months now and it just looks pathetic. Of all my dozens of plants, this is the one I can't seem to make flourish. I've got it set in the recommended distance from a window, I water it regularly as the well-draining perlite heavy-ish soil dries out, and it just looks so sad. I haven't fertilized it, yet. Should I try that? I always worry about burning them with too much fertilizer. Would that help? Thoughts? TIA

Growing like crazy Bruce is exploding, but in a leggy way and so is getting too long. Is there a tip that encourages more fullness

Misting - yay or nay? My asparagus Fern has always seemed a little sparse and leggy. I assumed repotting it this year would help but it doesn't seem to. My only guess is that it needs more humidity/I should be misting it? I've seen a lot of mixed things about doing it so I haven't tried. The only other idea I had was to cut it back and let it come again. Let me know your experience with your ferns, please! I feel like it's thriving instead of surviving. #Asparagus #fern #fernfriends #happyplants #plantsmakepeoplehappy 🌱 #NewEnglandGregGang 🌱 #MaineGang 🌱 #ThePlantMompy

What is the worst plant advice you've gotten? *originally I posted this without the question, then it seemed too good not to ask* I've had plants for over a decade. I got my first ones in my first college apartment (or was it my dorm?). Obviously when you are first venturing out on your own is the absolute best time to add the responsibility of life into the mix 🤦🏽. Anywho, many years, apartments, jobs, houses, kids, etc. later I am settled and things are looking up (big shout out to #greg for making me get cocky about things, too). At some point I was told "you don't need to repot your plant until it stops putting out new growth for a while." PERFECT, one less thing I needed to think about until it was obvious. Well, here I am going through my collection and repotting some for the first time in 6, 7, 8 years 😳. Some have been ok, some (like the one below) needed it years ago. So, what was the worst plant advice someone gave you? PS I will say that the plus side is I am pretty sure I would need an entire house for just my plants if they had been properly tended to and allowed to grow in the best conditions for so many years. #repotseason #plantadvice #asparagusfern

Long story short in the over a decade that I've had plants I had someone tell me that you needed to repot when there was no new growth for a while. I have been upgrading some of my older plants because it has been the better half of that decade.... Oops
