Aluminum Plant
About Aluminum Plant
Pilea plants are native to regions worldwide, and often have succulent, water-storing leaves. A handful of them are grown as houseplants, but the rest of the 600+ species are wild plants. Their name comes from the Latin for 'felt cap' which refers to the unique way that their fruits are protected. Fossils of Pilea species have been found dating back over 5 million years ago!

HELP!! Greetings Plantpeeps! I need help with my new pilea!š She arrived on the 31st, and I had her sitting apart from my other plants. I've been keeping the watering schedule thru Greg. I really want to repot her. However, I'm really nervous, with so many leaves dropping. Not sure what she needs. Please help!š¬ #pilea #pileapeperomioides #help

Is she dead or dormant..? This poor baby pilea. Sheās had it rough. If youāve seen the rather panicked saga, then youād know that last week I treated her for root rot and all her leaves fell off, making it hard for me to tell how sheās doing in the recovery stage. In the past, Iāve been really unsuccessful in bringing plants back from rot (I usually donāt realise until itās too late), and so Iām super nervous about her. I know I shouldnāt have introduced any more water to her after the rot treatment, but the stalk was starting to shrivel a little bit and so I gave her a tiny spritz of water, only enough to wet the very topmost layer of soil, just to see her through. So. The real question. Do you think sheās dead, or is she just dormant? The tips of the stalk arenāt black like my last money plant that died, but Iām not sure if that actually means sheās alive, especially as Iām not sure if sheās working on a leaf right now (I wouldnāt expect so given the rot). What are your thoughts? Will she live? (Apologies if the pictures are blurry) #PlantsMakePeopleHappy #PlantAddict #PlantTherapy #RootRot #babyplants #ChineseMoneyPlant #Pilea #PileaPeperomioides

Plant starting to shrivel #Pilea My Chinese money plant was doing SO good and even grew some other babies. However my largest plant (on the right) randomly shriveled up and died and now the babies are starting to wilt and struggle to grow new leaves. The ONLY thing thatās really changed is I havenāt given it the all purpose plant food that I get from Kroger in about the past month.

Penny with all her pups. I cut them off mother penny and then put honey on the cut part of the pup before planting them onto soil and they have been doing VERY well. Penny also has two more pups growing but they have slowed down since it is winter, I will plant them come spring. #HappyPlants #PropagationStation #Pilea #ChineseMoneyPlant

Why did my #ChineseMoneyPlant just chuck off its own leaf? So I got this baby #Pilea from my grandparents over Christmas as another chance to grow these beauties. Why did it do thissss? The leaf was fully attached last night, and this morning it just popped off (I didnāt touch it) A couple of the leaves came off from where I was handling it a bit too much (I forget how delicate these things are), but this last one came off all on its own. I know itās very close to the window, but Iāve moved house recently so Iām struggling to find the right spots for all my plants, and itās winter right now which is why sheās so close to the window, but sheās shaded by a couple other plants to try and mitigate that. Any thoughts? #PlantsMakePeopleHappy #help #PlantAddict #PlantTherapy

Whatās happening to her š I will be damned if I let this lil darling die. Again. (Thsi is my second attempt at a #ChineseMoneyPlant š) She was completely fine yesterday night (first pic), and now her stems are going brown and slightly shrivelled? This is what happened to my last one not long before it died and I donāt want a repeat of that. The last soil she was in went hydrophobic, so I repotted her into a soil/perlite mix (with a little bit of sphagnum moss and lavalite in there, but a negligible amount really. It was left overs from my failed terrarium but it had been treated with bleach so donāt worry it should be sterile, and I see no signs of mold with her anyway) and she really seemed to perk up, and now this!! Please help me figure out whatās happening š #Pilea #help #babyplants #PlantsMakePeopleHappy #PlantAddict #PlantCorner #BeforeAndAfter

New Etsy Shop! Hello everyone! My sister @PrettyPlant94) and I have decided to open an Etsy shop since we acquired many props off of our plants. We will be trying to keep up with updating the page, but we wanted to share it with you guys in case anyone wanted to get an extra prop for your own plant or start a new plant without breaking the bank! Our plants are semi-mediocre as we are not millionaires š but weād like to start a small business as we live in a place that doesnāt offer us many opportunities to make extra money. We want to have a zero-waste solution to cutting back our plants while they continue to grow. We figured weād stop by here first and let our new friends have any first dibs! The Etsy shop is called SistersWhoGrow! Even a couple follows would be amazing! Thank you guys for being so wonderful and supportive to us as new growers. #EtsyShops #PlantsMakePeopleHappy #PlantAddict #PlantTherapy #PlantCorner #PlantMoms #BuyandSell #buyalltheplants #Philodendron #Alocasia #Syngonium #Maranta #Pothos #Anthurium #Monstera #Diffenbachia #MoneyTree #SpiderPlant #Calathea #Peperomia #Succulent #Palms #Fern #DwarfUmbrellaTree #PurpleVelvetPlant #RubberPlant #Pilea #SwissCheeseVine #PlantHaul #PlantingOnABudget

I am devastatedā¦ I turn to this small community because I feel that, otherwise, no one will understand me. This morning, when I woke up, I saw that several of my most delicate plants had fallen on top of each other, leaving dozens of leaves scattered on the floor. Among them was a plant I had been trying for years to grow beautifully, tall, and lushāthe pilea. Iāve attempted to care for this plant about four times before. This time, I thought I had finally succeeded. It had grown to an enormous height, with many leaves and countless little offshoots. Seeing this plant grow made me feel incredible; I was so proud. My previous pileas had always ended up looking bad or dying, whether from summer heat, falls, lack of water, or pests. Well, today I have to say goodbye to all that progress because this morning, my beautiful pilea lost more than ten leaves. The same happened with some new leaves from my Anthurium crystallinum, Begonia, and Ficus. Lately, I feel like Iām losing faith in keeping plants. Too many leaves are dying compared to the ones that are growing. They demand so much work from me, and I donāt feel like itās being rewarded. I donāt know if Iām doing something wrong. Sorry for the bad energy, i could use some comfort š„ŗš #plantcare #accident #leaves #sad #GregGang #PlantsMakePeopleHappy #PlantAddict #PlantTherapy #GregFeedback #Pilea #PileaPeperomioides #HappyPlants
