About Philodendron Scandens
One of the most common houseplants, the heartleaf Philodendron, gets its name from the Greek words meaning tree-loving. These vining plants can be found climbing trees all across their native range of South America and the Caribbean and in the homes of plant lovers worldwide. 🌳
Philodendrons grow aerial roots that grip the bark of trees, allowing them to grow over 20 feet tall! Their heart-shaped leaves change shape as they climb and can grow larger than a dinner plate. Fossils show Philodendrons growing as far back as 30 million years ago when South America was still connected to Antarctica! ❄️

How to fertilize Philodendron Scandens
Most potting soils come with ample nutrients which plants use to produce new growth.
By the time your plant has depleted the nutrients in its soil it’s likely grown enough to need a larger pot anyway.
To replenish this plant's nutrients, repot your Philodendron Scandens after it doubles in size or once a year—whichever comes first.

Not Happy #Philodendron was thriving in its water as a propagation. Now been in soil for a few weeks and she’s looking very unhappy. So this is looking like the second prop Ill lose in soil to this pot. Do they hate clay pots or something or is it a coincidence? My previous prop is thriving from about 6 months ago from same plant. Pics included.

Grow Light vs Sunlight #ToJobeOrNotToJobe #PosingPhilodendron #CoughingCoffeePlant Good Day All! New to the community and just bought her last week. She’s one of my favorites as I grew up with her. My mom always had them. I have repotted her and put in some Jobe sticks, which I really only used once back in the day. I’m wondering if they’re considered food and/or fertilizer or both and if they’re considered good? Any other suggestions for her? I’d love to get some cuttings and start others as I lost all my previous plants in a treacherous move! Would you consider a grow light better than sunlight for her since my sunlight is facing northwest and directly under an air-conditioning event? Thanks for all the help. (PS I’m new to the app and still learning how to use it. What happens if it tells you to water it and the plant is still moist. How do we tell it no, it doesn’t need it & “not get off schedule” per se)?

Starting to wilt? Ive had this plant for many years, and it has always looked lush and full. Recently, the leaves have started to yellow and curl. Any ideas? #Philodendron

Need help with philodendron Hi there! My philodendron has been yellowing for a long time. I repotted to see if that would help, and it didn’t. I also gave it some fertilizer. I’m worried about over watering. Any ideas?

What other plant parents say
I started out with three cuttings of one leaf each mid august 2021 and I now have 20+ leaves. This plant has thrived with ~65% humidity, grow lights, and an inch of spagnum moss on top of the soil. Overall a very easy plant to care for and quick to propagate
