Finding light for Phalaenopsis hookeriana in your home
Phalaenopsis hookeriana may have difficulty thriving, and will drop leaves 🍃, without ample sunlight.
Place it less than 3 feet from a south-facing window to maximize the potential for growth.
Select your region to see how the current weather in your area affects the placement of Phalaenopsis hookeriana in your home 🏡.
How to fertilize Phalaenopsis hookeriana
Most potting soils come with ample nutrients which plants use to produce new growth.
By the time your plant has depleted the nutrients in its soil it’s likely grown enough to need a larger pot anyway.
To replenish this plant's nutrients, repot your Phalaenopsis hookeriana after it doubles in size or once a year—whichever comes first.

She is alive and doing well. The only problem I have is I'm not able to get her to Bloom. I've had her for 2 years and she's not bloomed once. The stalk of her flower was broken off when I bought her.. How do I get her to Bloom?. #PhalaenopsisOrchid

The Unorthodox Orchid - a tale of trauma, recovery and learning that one size never fits all. My gal Sonora (named for the neighboring desert, because I can't bring myself to call her Chihuahua 😭) was gifted to me three birthdays ago just after my dad died. I've always had terrible luck with orchids and figured this one would wither and die too, but with some research figured out my biggest mistakes (sunburns, fertilizer burns, root root) and toward the end of last summer she grew a huge new leaf in record speed along with a beautiful flower stalk. Then came the mouse. At first I thought my toddler had somehow gotten into the window sill and managed to surgically pluck a single flower. The problem there being I never found the flower, and two days later the other had suffered the same fate. I was baffled until the huge hole showed up in her new leaf, nibbled in a perfect half circle. I moved her to a less accessible place, and that's when we really put her mettle to the test. My husband tried to swat a fly on her, splitting another leaf down from the center. Then I somehow managed to stab her with my fingernail, leaving yet another big hole and me wondering if there are recorded cases of plant abuse in the law books. If not, I might be a contender. After all this, she lives, but I could not keep her hydrated to save my life. It took me a lot of experimentation and advice from the awesome #greggers before I threw up my hands and said "if you're that thirsty, drink up, buttercup." So now she's an aquatic orchid. I can only guess that my specific arid region lets me get away with it, and yes, I do take her out of the water at night lest she just. Rot. Her leaves are filled out again, the split stopped spreading, and her roots are FINALLY green after spending the better part of a year ashy gray. TL;DR orchids are actually resilient asf and sometimes, if all the usual methods aren't working, try something crazy and see what happens ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ #phalaenopsisorchid #orchidlovers #orchidcare #backfromthedead #plantrecovery

Too humid? Wrong pot? My orchid came in a plastic pot that was inside a ceramic decorative one. The app said to water it today (1-6-25). When I took the plastic pot out, I saw humidity on the side of it that was inside the ceramic one. Should I not keep it in the decorative pot? Also, should I not water it today - it is 8 days since it was last watered. #OrchidLovers

They had it on their porch in minus 12. She was bending as soon as I got her in the car. Well now my hubby got me an orchid for our anniversary (Rihanna) and got clips to save my Monstera! Pic 1 is when I picked flora up Pic 2 is now that I've got her properly propped up And pic 3 is the orchid!

Update on stuff in bloom - #phalaenopsisorchid edition. There's a lot going on in my life right now, and though as always those phals take their time, here and there, there are at least one or two opened buds, and they are a nice pick me up to come home to. The most recent - the CTL Christophe 1 - opened just today and is a real looker. I can't wait to find out during the next days if he might be fragrant. The smaller and more floriferous minimark and the sogo bianca are further along, but still not in full bloom. Enjoy. #orchidlovers #happyplants

First Orchid Plant I am new to orchid care! My sister bought this for my birthday in October. Then the flowers fell and the buds would wilt before blooming so after watching MissOrchidGirl on YouTube, I repotted at the beginning of January in a general mix medium. She just had one single bud now which is neither wilting nor budding, which seems like a small improvement. I'm rooting for it. I water her once a week after looking at her roots but I felt like they turned silver very quickly and I was dehydrating her (I still held off on watering!). I recently started using a wooden stick, which still feels cold so I just hold off on watering for another few days. One of the leaves has started yellowing, which I have read should be okay for older leaves? The cut has always been there since I got it. I also noticed on one leaf it has a bit of a wiggly line? I'm not sure how long it's been there or if I should be worried. I bought the MiracleGro orchid fertilizer spray before I read mixed reviews about foliar fertilizers so I'm looking into getting something else, but any recommendations for Canada would be helpful! In the meantime, can I just soak her roots in the fertilizer directly or do I need to dilute it further? Or use as directed? I read it's a pretty weak fertilizer... Any other tips would be greatly appreciated! Thank you! #PhalaenopsisOrchid #OrchidLovers #OrchidOrg
