Finding light for Barker's Oncidium in your home
a window
Barker's Oncidium may have difficulty thriving, and will drop leaves 🍃, without ample sunlight.
Place it less than 3 feet from a south-facing window to maximize the potential for growth.
Select your region to see how the current weather in your area affects the placement of Barker's Oncidium in your home 🏡.
How to fertilize Barker's Oncidium
Most potting soils come with ample nutrients which plants use to produce new growth.
By the time your plant has depleted the nutrients in its soil it’s likely grown enough to need a larger pot anyway.
To replenish this plant's nutrients, repot your Barker's Oncidium after it doubles in size or once a year—whichever comes first.

About a week into her first bloom, purchased in the fall and began spiking some time in November (IIR). Finally starting to have a detectable fragrance, it smells like vanilla with some light powdery notes. I purchased this from Hausermann, it was just labeled Oncidium Twinkle Fantasy so I don’t have any more specific info on the species/subspecies, but she’s cute. This plant is under grow lights for at least 12 hours and so far has been tolerant of high light. It’s on a heat mat (that barely works) but the temps in this area of my apartment have been pretty low (55-65), and it seems to be tolerating the low temps well (shockingly, my Bellinas also seem to be pretty happy and growing in these temps). #Oncidium #OncidiumOrchid #OncidiumTwinkle #OrchidLovers

Need help, where do I trim?? Hellooo! So this orchid lost its blooms just a while back, and I’d been waiting to trim it because I really didn’t know exactly where to trim at. As you can see, I trimmed off of the newer stalk above the last node, but I’m unsure on if I’m supposed to actually trim lower than that—above the first node on the original stalk (where the red line is on the last picture) #HappyPlants #PlantsMakePeopleHappy #PlantAddict #NewGrowth #PlantTherapy #OrchidLovers #PhalaenopsisOrchid #Phalaenopsis #Orchid #NewPlantMom #PetsAndPlants #PlantCorner #BeforeAndAfter #PlantLove #PlantMoms

Yellowing leaves Hello everyone! I’ve noticed some of the leaves on my orchid are yellowing a bit. It was watered on the 16th, should I water again? #OrchidLovers

This orchid was shipped to me a few dasys ago. I watered it today. I’m hoping an expert could take a look at the photos and let me know if the plant is stressed?

Luna’s blooms had fallen off quite some time back, and after a while of not really knowing what I should do next—I ended up trimming her and after a while, she has grown a lot! I was wondering if the red-ish tone buds were blooms forming or something different, I would love to know! And tips on what to do once the blooms have fallen are definitely appreciated, for I’m somewhat new with orchid care! <3 #HappyPlants #PlantsMakePeopleHappy #PlantAddict #NewGrowth #PlantTherapy #OrchidLovers #PlantCorner #PhalaenopsisOrchid #Phalaenopsis #PhalaenopsisOrchids #Orchid

Phalaenopsis Orchid Can someone maybe give me tips on what to do with your orchid once the flowers end up drooping? I’ve hardly had Luna and unfortunately the blooms are already closing in, but there’s still life! I’ve heard they require more care once the blooms fall but I’m not sure what to do. All and any tips help! <3 #HappyPlants #PlantsMakePeopleHappy #PlantAddict #NewGrowth #PlantTherapy #NewPlantMom #OrchidLovers #PhalaenopsisOrchid #Phalaenopsis #PhalaenopsisOrchids #Orchid

Just got a new swan orchid, would love tips! <3 I just got Luna today, it’s my first larger sized orchid! I’m a noob when it comes to house plants, and I would love tips on how to take care of this plant and let it thrive. I noticed some darkness on at least one of the leaves at the base and didn’t know if it could be rot or something of concern; and also a hole on one of the leaves. And I don’t know if I should repot it once the blooms drop and put it in something different like bark or a bark/moss mix—I would love some tips on how to keep it alive/healthy,how often to water, etc! <3 #HappyPlants #PlantsMakePeopleHappy #OrchidLovers #PhalaenopsisOrchid #Phalaenopsis #PlantAddict

Finally able to post again. Had a chill oncidium repot this weekend, after my Tsiku Marguerite finally stopped blooming. So many gorgeous roots. Had to ration my sphagnum for her and my Chantilly Lace Twinkle, but it all worked out in the end. Until I dropped the freshly repotted plant all over the floor that is 😅 well... can't win them all. #rootporn #repotseason #orchidlovers

Keep walking, nothing to see here. Just a deliciously fragrant and dainty oncidium Tsiku Marguerite in full bloom on 5 spikes 😍 #plantsmakepeoplehappy #orchidlovers
