About Hedgehog Aloe
Many people are familiar with Aloe vera, but this genus of plants contains tons of other beautiful succulent plants that come in all sorts of colors! Their succulent leaves evolved to store water in dry climates, which makes them a perfect fit if you're a busy plant parent. With great care (and a lot of sunlight) you may even see your Aloe bloom! Their flowers grow out of a large spike and can be shades of red, orange, and yellow. 🔥

So happy with this progress! He lost all his roots to root rot last summer 🙃 but I’ve had him in coco husk for a few months and look how happy he is! He even has three babies! I’ve just potted him up by a 1/2 inch and into terracotta and now he’s enjoying a nice bottom water. Repot, or funeral? A few months ago this was a thriving hedgehog aloe, and I was cutting away excess growth as often as I could. Now it’s basically a wilted husk. All of the bottom growth has died off, and the main stalk is saggy and brown, so now it’s held up by chopsticks. Some folks I asked IRL suggested the plant had grown too fast too quickly. So, is this a repotting situation, or do I need to cut my losses and start fresh?

Enough light? This is my office with a large south west window. Succulents and cacti in this room. Oh and my ever loving Echeveria that has survived so far. I moved many of these from bright direct light to this room SE (construction) Us this going to be enough light. I like it! It’s uncomplicated. Figuring out how much water is too much can be a touch tricky, but it thrives in low-ish/medium light.
