About Calathea picturata 'Argentea'
Many of the houseplants we used to know as Calatheas now belong to the genus Goeppertia (say that three times fast). These plants have delightfully patterned leaves that come in all sorts of colors and shapes! Commonly known as prayer plants, the leaves of some species fold up at night through a process called nyctinasty meaning night movement! 😴

By the time your plant has depleted the nutrients in its soil it’s likely grown enough to need a larger pot anyway.
To replenish this plant's nutrients, repot your Calathea picturata 'Argentea' after it doubles in size or once a year—whichever comes first.

Trying to figure out the schedule #CalatheaVittata I don’t have much sunlight being that my windows are both and south. Plus I was unsure of the exact watering schedule. Does anyone have suggestions on how to get this boy back to health?

Dying after trying to adjust its schedule. I have been trying to get this plant to the proper schedule. At first it started to get brown tips, so I thought it was too much sun, but then I brought it away from the window and that made it start to look bad as well. Then I thought it was under watering because it began to droop. So I started watering more. But now I’m confused, anyone have any suggestions? Do I need to repot it and try to just reset?

Never give up! Never surrender! #notdeadyet #NewGrowth #itsabouttime #greggang My brother gave me this vittata along with a musaica and never never ctenanthe last December. The ctenanthe has been fine, and the musaica eventually put on loads of new growth when spring rolled around. This one did nothing. It’s been frustrating because I knew it had good roots, but it would not give me any new growth and the original leaves were starting to die completely. I was on the verge of throwing it out, but took it out to the enclosed back porch before we left on a 4 day trip. Apparently, it wanted to be warmer? Not one, but two new shoots! I had literally picked it up to throw it away when I spotted them! The house is usually around 70F, but it would have been probably close to 90F on the back porch. So now I wonder, should I just leave it on the back porch where it will be ungodly hot and humid all summer (central Indiana—the corn sweat is real) or move it back inside until fall? #happyplants #calathea
