Most potting soils come with ample nutrients which plants use to produce new growth.

Clarification: my petunia is a survivor. It should be long dead by now, the ones in my mother’s yard are. If life finds a way, why snuff it out?

Personally, the constant dropping of leaves and shedding of dead flowers is more work than there is beauty. This spring I hope to add a few more colors to the pot, to liven it up and see if we can go another year. 🪴
