Alocasia 'Mandalay'
About Alocasia 'Mandalay'
Alocasias, commonly known as Elephant Ears, are some of the most common houseplants although their leaves can reach enormous sizes when grown outdoors! 🐘 They typically only support a few leaves at a time (more, when they get more sun!) so don't be concerned if you see an old leaf begin to retire after a new one emerges. They grow out of underground corms which are similar to bulbs, so next time you repot keep an eye out for baby Alocasias! They contain calcium oxalate crystals so be sure to keep them out of reach if you have children or pets! ⚠️

How to fertilize Alocasia 'Mandalay'

Most potting soils come with ample nutrients which plants use to produce new growth.
By the time your plant has depleted the nutrients in its soil it’s likely grown enough to need a larger pot anyway.
To replenish this plant's nutrients, repot your Alocasia 'Mandalay' after it doubles in size or once a year—whichever comes first.

Why is my plant leaves dripping? My plant leaves seem to be dripping water. Is that normal? I tried to take a picture the best I could have the water droplet at the end of the leaf.

Alocasia Corms Found 3 when repotting newly purchased pink dragon and Polly . Now what? I put them in moistened spagnum moss last night. Not sure what to do next #AlocasiaAddicts #AlocasiaPinkDragon #AlocasiaPolly #corms

Mold, right? Repotted this plant over the past weekend. It was struggling in its terracotta pot and when repotting I saw there was mold. Rinsed the roots with water, but didn’t do anything more serious than that. Now after 5-6 days I’m seeing this throughout the pot. What is the best way to get rid of the mold?

How’s he doing? #ZebraElephantEar I have the biggest freshest leaf but it’s leaning so hard into the sun and is curling inward. Looks very healthy! But what does he want? I did do an extra watering and then moved to bathroom for more humidity (where it’s at now is 60-70, bathroom ranges 80-90) Anything else I need to do?

ID plant and issue? #AlocasiaAddicts I bought this tiny dried out grocery store start and after cutting one very limp and dead leaf it grew this stunner and I’m waiting to take the old damaged leaf out too but wanted it to be a little healthier first. What kind is it and what disease does that old leaf have? The new one isn’t affected so maybe just trauma?

Sammies recovering!❤️🩹 Thank #thethread you to everyone who helped me through Sammie’s problem. Buuuut supervising news! There was no #rot ! All the roots were nice firm and healthy! He did get overwatered just a bit, but not for rot! I still soaked his roots just to be sure. I know the most likely reason why his leafs were very yellow. He was SOOOOOO root bound in that pot. Took me 10 minutes to just take off his old soil, why you may ask? I’m changing soils! Instead of soil for Sammy, he will now have vermiculite! Honesty looks exactly like lechuza pon, and feels like it. I also was looking at the cork and saw babies on the way 👀… HELP! So yeah Sammy the #alocasiasilverdragon is going to get better. He also wishes you a good day #TheThread ! See the before and after photos! Btw going to start propping a #philodendronfloridabeauty 😆 Tags, @Artonina @Blueberrypie @BuffCaperspurge @captainstardust @cereal @debbiedo @ @DrGreen @elisenavidad @FineFlamevine @FitRiberry92 @kaleena @LilRootedWitch @LadyGreen76 @NikkiBplantmom @Owlnette @planthoe40 @PlantParty401 @Plants_Galore @PoisedAlbo @Preciousplants1 @Prentyce @SleekLatetulip @TheConservator @ToughAnahaw89 @Araceae @LaBori276 @LauraLynne @RJG @ShirleyWhirley @TimmerAnn1002 @princesspitstop @cutepolypremum @swiftwolfsbane #rootbound #repot #Alocasia #AlocasiaSilverDragon #PlantsMakePeopleHappy #HappyPlants #BeforeAndAfter #semihydroponics
