About Calidora Elephant's Ear
Alocasias, commonly known as Elephant Ears, are some of the most common houseplants although their leaves can reach enormous sizes when grown outdoors! 🐘 They typically only support a few leaves at a time (more, when they get more sun!) so don't be concerned if you see an old leaf begin to retire after a new one emerges. They grow out of underground corms which are similar to bulbs, so next time you repot keep an eye out for baby Alocasias! They contain calcium oxalate crystals so be sure to keep them out of reach if you have children or pets! ⚠️

My Alocasia Calidora had a baby!

First time using LECA? I have an alocasia corm propagating in water that I'm planning to put in leca when it's ready. I need my setup to be as inexpensive as possible. A few questions: - Should I/how should I sanitize leca? - I'm thinking about using a net pot inside a cache pot. Do I need to use a wick, or can I go without? - Is it really necessary to have 2 or 3 different nutrient solutions, plus pH tests and buffers? Any other tips, experiences, or tried-and-true methods are welcome and appreciated. Thank you! #alocasiaaddicts #happyplants #corms #leca #semihydroponics

Is this new shoot going to die off? #AlocasiaSilverDragon #NewGrowth Just got this alocasia silver dragon last week. The next day I already saw signs of the new shoot browning. Roots are healthy, leaves took a little hit from shipping but not to bad. Just watered her for the first time since buying her. Overall a healthy alocasia…. Except for this new shoot. Will I lose it ?
