Time for the children to go out and play! Now that the weather looks like it’s going to be staying in the 60s 70s and 80s. I’ve been loading my greenhouses inside my greenhouse with plants that have so far managed to survive. Leaving pretty much only my newbies inside. MY EXPERIENCE, PLANTING SUCCULENT SEEDS: The guide said to soak the seeds for 24 hours then moisten the soil and place the seeds one by one on top of the soil with a toothpick. Well, in 24 hours the seeds had formed a gooey mucus slime around themselves and a toothpick could not separate one seed from the other. So I rigged a syringe so that I could suck up the glob of seeds with some water surrounding them and spewed the ooze onto the top of the soil. Eventually, the seeds at the bottom of the cup could be sucked up without the goo. So I was able eventually to spread the seeds out a little bit although as you can see, I have way too many seeds in each section. I popped the lid on top of the tray and we’ll wait until tomorrow to see what it all looks like . They say that succulent seeds don’t easily germinate so perhaps I don’t have too many seeds in there. Actually, I know I have way too many seeds in there, but tomorrow when things are not quite so gooey maybe I can pull some of them out. If any of you have any experience in this, let me know where I went wrong. I think I really wasn’t supposed to soak the seeds overnight because some instructions say to soak them some instructions they don’t soak them. Look what I got! You were right it’s a really cool book. Lots of good information. I’m not sure I want to do decorating with succulents, but who knows. I might be taking a pottery class so I could make some terra-cotta pots in the future. False Fall has arrived, and the plants are loving it. Tonight is supposed to get down to the mid 50's (ish) and highs are under 80 (with low humidity thank God after this summer 🥵). These are the perfect conditions for succulents: warm days, cooler nights, clear skies and not a drop of rain. I hope these conditions stay around for a while; I wouldn't mind an extended fall after living in literal Hell all of July. Plants featured: 1) Jade- I've been sleeping on her! Found some more succulent babies on some succs that are new! first is my pachyveria little jewel, it has two bigger offsets but the small one is new. 2. My graptoveria titubans variegata has its first baby! It’s super tiny but I’m so excited! It’s one of my faves! 3. Graptosedum California sunset that I almost killed is regrowing.. yay ! 🤣 4. I couldn't help myself. Been thinking about these Hen and chicks since I last went to Home Depot and I just had to give in!! They're all different so it'll be fun. I think there is Tectorum, Green Wheel, and Cobweb so far. Got to see my grandma today, we went to a local nursery & lowes! 😊 I picked up a couple plants of course… 1. Sedum Sunsparkler ‘Dream Dazzler’ 💕 I love the pink! Me and my grandma split this one in half, she also gave me another Sunsparkler that I posted a couple days ago. 2/3. A lil container i put together with a Hardy Ice Plant ‘sunset’ & sedeveria Letzia, the sedeveria came in a four pack & they all seem to have blooms starting to form on them. 🌼 4/5. Graptosedum ‘Ghosty’ , I’ve had these before but they died so i got more, they are pretty easy plants for me, and they grow pretty fast in the right conditions. Updates on plants you guys haven’t seen in a while! 🌿🤗 1. Pickle plant 🥒- probably needs a repot, it was growing super fast but slowed down, not sure if it’s in dormancy, but it still is an awesome plant, & super tall. I still would like to measure it. 📏 2. Graptosedum bronze- this one was damaged by freezing temps during the winter, but has completely recovered since! It’s grown back & filled out. 🌿 3. Coral Cactus 🪸- lots of new growth, I’ve been keeping this one outside right now. 4. Tillandsia Funckiana- new growth at the top, it’s pretty noticeable. I love the colors, and texture of this airplant. 🌱 5. #PlantMail arrived today, from Mountain Crest Gardens! They came in much better shape this time, in a smaller box which meant they had less room to be jostled around. I’m so happy with all of them, the colors & conditon they came in! 1. Sedeveria ‘Spring Jade’ 💚 she is perfect, and super healthy, the colors are lovely! 2. Graptosedum ‘Blue Giant’- isn’t quite ‘blue’ yet, she’s more of a light powder greenish blue, but I know once he receives more light, he will show more color. He also was healthy, just needs a deep watering. 3. Echeveria ‘Dark Moon’ - I’ve been wanting a black, or dark colored Echeveria, I’ve seen a blue moon on Greg before and it was sooo stunning such a deep blue color! I’m sure some of yall have seen it, I can’t remember her ‘@‘ but if you remember tag her! Anyways I can’t wait to get her in the sun so she can continue to develop those blue colors ! Help me think of a name for her ! 💙 I like ‘marina’ cause she’s a Marine blue. 4. Crassula ‘Calico Kitten’ Is one of my fave succulents, (it was my boyfriend’s favorite #succulent from this order also. I’ve had one before but lost it due to rot. 😟 I love the crassula species. it’s so diverse, colorful, their are so many different shapes/silhouettes.. AND they are typically low maintenance/chill succulents! This is the one I got for my tiered planter, it has one spot left, & i wanted to add 1 more trailing succulent to the planter. It will be on the middle tray so it will be in the same planter with my VSOH, and calico hearts!
