Update on my $7 big box stores bulbs that I planted about 6 weeks ago. One has three plants and they are all perfect. Just sharing a few pictures I took during my plant checks tonight 🪴 The first two pictures are Manjulina Jolie, my mama manjula, from the outside looking in. The third photo is my elephant ear working on its new leaf. The last couple pictures are just a couple of slugs that live in the moss garden. I had one of those "duh" a-ha moments today. I always used to complain that people had these huge elephant ears in planters and they are going to go to waste in the winter. I also complain that I can't find the right plant for each side of our front door without buying huge, expensive, floor plants that I then had to find space for in the winter. Queue the a-ha. Buy elephant ear bulbs on sale for $7 each, plant in the spring, cut back and dig up in the fall, repeat. Went into Home Depot for a brick. Just a BRICK. Came out with 4 plants, 2 inside, 2 outside. I could not resist that hibiscus, and the black elephant ear took my heart. And the two succulents I got because I didn't know if I would see them again. Incidentally, does anyone know what variety of plant the little red-underleaf one is?
