I was talking to Jon on the phone for well over an hour yesterday and he enlightened me on one thing I wanted and thought I needed to share with everyone. #ljplantnursery The best time of day to repot your plants is of the evening. I honestly didn’t know that. Me beingg the curious person I am I had to find out why. Some of you may already know this. THIS ONE WE ALL PRETTY MUCH KNOW: Spring is ideal for repotting a houseplant. Plants often go dormant in the winter and begin growing again as daylight hours increase in the spring. Repotting gives them the room they need to grow. But that doesn’t mean you have to wait for spring. If a plant is showing signs of stress or poor health, go ahead and repot any time of year. THIS I DIDN’T KNOW: Try to repot in the evening if possible. β€œAt night, in the absence of bright sunlight, the plant’s metabolism slows down, so it has a chance to recover from repotting stress,”. #whentorepotaplant

Omg Guys, I almost forgot to post this... "Emerson", my #crassula Mesembryanthemoides is about to BLOOM the cutest neon pink flowers! 😁 πŸ’ž 🌷 πŸ‘€ ...unfortunately I'm out of town this weekend 😭 I guess my plant/cats sitter will get to enjoy the full bloom! Crassula Moonglow update 🀩 I didn’t realize he was growing so fast there is a sizable difference in the first picture & second. one is from today & the second is from October 8th. In the first picture is about 18 sets of leaves & the second is 13 😱 I’m so happy it’s growing well because I was starting to think he was at a standstill… boy was I wrong ! Happy New Year's Eve everyone! This time of year has always held a peculiar bittersweetness and melancholy for me. Ever since I started getting into plants, I've found that the melancholy is significantly less than usual. The days are short but they're getting progressively longer. Some of the plants have new growth, a small promise that spring is right around the corner. This year I'm undertaking a little personal project: I'm going to try to photograph all of my plants' growth throughout the year, documenting them on the equinoxes and solstices.
