Rule of thumb! ALWAYS repot your nursery plants. It’s not blasted everywhere so everyone thinks nurseries are out to get them by intentionally killing their plants so they have to buy a new one after a few months. But that’s really not the case! Stock sits at wholesalers for months in the same pots. Overtime the potting media wears down, breaks down and fills up the pore space where oxygen should be, making the soil heavily compacted. By the time it gets to a nursery and then sits in the stock, it might of been in that same pot to up to a year. The roots are yearning for more room, the soil is basically dead dirt at that point, and ur plant is starving & suffocating. They will always appreciate a repot as soon as it’s settled into your environment. And if you’re too nervous to do it, just ask your local nursery worker - we do it allll the time and most of us are happy to help :) (please note not ALL plants will come like this, sometimes they’ve been recently repotted or other factors, but you can really tell, the mix will be fluffy and fresh still, compacted soil is bouncy and stuck together) Hello people reading this! my names Isabelle, I’ve been a silent observer throughout my studies and I’m feeling confident enough to share what I have learnt and what I will continue to learn throughout my endeavours #pottingadvice #PlantTips #advice #HappyPlants #PlantAddict #NewGrowth #NewPlantMom #Horticulture #Soils
