A day late posting, but I had to share my #freshleaffriday haul from #plantproper ! It arrived last night and I unpacked everyone, but wanted to get the best photos possible for you all. I am not entirely sure what happened. I was doing a great job not buying plants, then I kept hearing about how Plant Proper would go on Plant Story and have great deals so I finally joined. Happy #freshleaffriday from my #thaiconstellationmonstera from #plantproper. He latest leaf has finally finished unfurling and is absolute perfection 🥹 this is the first leaf she made completely in my home, as the one before started to arrive a day or two after she did (my plant card photos is when that one unfurled). Happy #freshleaffriday #greggang from all my #hoya blooms! In no particular order, since I'm not sure how the photos will play out: Hoya #retusa cutting I got a while back tried to bloom last year but it didn't quite work out, so here it is opening just one flower at a time (I managed to catch two in the photo). It's just so cute 🥹 Hoya #lobbii is my OG. My first hoya from one of my first plant friends a decade ago. She has always bloomed and the only reason she doesn't as much now is because I've given away so many cuttings she has to work to make more peduncles. Her blooms always make me feel like I am a good plant parent. [the orange and maroon] Another hoya that started as a cutting is my #wayetii and it put out its first peduncles this spring. I love how over the top long they are compared to others. The flowers are just SO PRECIOUS being round and velvety looking 🥹 Finally, my #sherperdaii a put out ten peduncles last year, maybe more, I lost count. She has been making the first floor of my house sound like someone lit a floral scented candle in every room. So far I think six of the peduncles have flowers, we will see if they all decide to this year. [White bunches with pink centers]. Another plant that has been blowing my mind lately so I had to share. My Maranta Kim from #plantproper. This is my first #maranta and it was one that I liked more and more each time I saw it so I finally went for it. She has no rules and brings me SO much joy. 🧮 Plant Math <$1 plant = free plant! I couldn't resist these Big Box Store rescues for $0.99 each (the pots in the photo were free). From what I can tell they were upset by their living conditions, not pests. Cheers to #freshleaffriday everyone! I have a personal fresh leaf to share today: last night I submitted my application to the Master Gardener Volunteer program at one of our universities here in Maine. A fun #freshleaffriday post! First up, my #calatheafreddie is in bloom! I repot it three weeks ago so I have no idea how this happened 🤦🏽 the blooms are short lived, you can see the old and new ones in the close up photo. But the SCENT! It is incredible and so strong! 😍 I moved my #goldenpothos outside for the summer. I've been carefully turning it so it doesn't get sunburned and becomes fuller evenly. But, it seems some birds had other plans. So Pat, my 30+ year old golden is growing in a different way and 🤞🏼 he comes out stronger! Cool plant alert! 🚨🌱👻 My neighbor text the other day that we had these growing along the road and I spotted a bunch on the path behind my house this morning. This is a Ghost Pipe, scientific name Monotropa Uniflora. It's native to Asia, North America and South America. It is a parasitic plant because of the lack of chlorophyll. Apparently it's really rare because it grows in very specific conditions. Ran to HomeGoods, TJ Maxx and Michaels to get some new pots. I'll likely go back for a few more but with Memorial Day sales I wanted to let you all know what I found: HomeGoods: mostly big pots and floor stands, lots of white, some yellows, few other colors. TJMaxx: more sizes, but still on the larger size, lots of white, some terracotta, some bold colors, lots of plant stands/risers.
