Thought you all might enjoy some alpine wildflowers that my daughter and I delighted in on our hike in Colorado today! These grow at about 12,000 feet, far above tree line. It absolutely amazes me what grows up there! We saw bell flowers, tons of stone crop, aspen fleabane, paintbrush, and so many others! She’s a 1 year old (from cuttings off of a much older plant) that has just defied expectations in growth. And the smell is….DRUMROLL PLEASE…feet! 1000 year old feet! Lolol Or possibly swampa$$? Volleyball socks that were left in a bag for four weeks? A decomposing body? 😆😆🤣🤣🤢🤢🥴😵😵💫It’s sooooo bad! Lol!! I’m torn because it’s the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen! What’s crazy is that if you put your nose to the blooms, it smells like chocolate! But my entire sunroom smells terrrible from it. So interesting! I was looking for a little humidity dome for my baby Alocasia Jacklyn today, and realized I could turn an old vase over and stick her under there until she grows a bit more. And as you can see, the bottom half of her semi hydro setup is currently a yogurt container- didn’t want to buy a whole setup when she will soon outgrow it. It made me think of other things I’ve repurposed for plants, such as the beautiful ceramic berry strainer for a little orchid I have, and a couple of thrifted bowls and plates I use as saucers, or to hold plants steady on a wire frame shelf. What things have you repurposed, on purpose or because needs- must?
