What to do with these aerial roots??

These aerial roots are getting looooonngggg! I feel like it’s planning on taking over my bedroom 🀣 I tucked a few of the shorter ones back into the soil and they’ve rooted. Should I wrap these inside of the pot? Leave them alone? What do you usually do with yours? #monstera #monsteradeliciosa #MonsteraMob roots">#aerialroots
It is actually best to stick them into the dirt it will help stabilize your plant too and give it More places to get nutrients from but definitely just wiggle them into the dirt and they'll root in there in your plant bowl thank you for it
You can trim them down a bit aerial roots are there to try and anchor the plant down and there are trying to find water and nutrients but if you trim it shouldn’t hurt them
I agree with pps that if you cut them down to right above the soil they’ll start growing into it and stabilize your plant. Don’t stick them in the soil, as they may rot. Let them do the work. If you wanted to cut them completely off that won’t hurt the plant.
1) retrain them back into the soil, they'll take root
2) provide a growing stake, your plantbaby will begin to climb/grow upward
3) trim them down, they'll grow back over time
4) must them frequently, your plantbaby absorbs some of its moisture through them.

@swizzles They look good! I don’t do anything with mine. I let them hang as an architectural plant feature. You can definitely trim them back a bit if you want to but you don’t have to if you don’t want to. These are used to stabilize your plant as it is a vine. It’s normal to see these since the plant is a vine that loves to form colonies. We just happen to grow them vertically rather than horizontally. 😁 If you take a cutting of your plant to sell or gift, you take one with the aerial root to form those new roots in soil once it is potted. It’s ultimately up to you to decide what to do. Mine have roots 5-6 feet long and still growing despite’s moss poles. They are an interesting feature and it’s up to you ti decide what you want to do. Happy Growing!🌿
Unpopular opinion but to me, ariel roots ruin the appearance of a monstera πŸ™‰ they just look creepy and weird to me! Haha! Mine just started to grow one, so I plan to put them back into the soil or trim them down!
@robbi_rose haha I didn’t mind them! But I ended up trimming them and sticking them back into the pot ☺️
Let them do their thing! Back when I first started with monsteras I wasn’t a fan of the aerial roots. Now that I’m a few years (and more than a few plants!) in, they’ve started to grow on me πŸ˜‰ I put my big guy up on a table and the aerial roots look fantastic, almost like art. If you like them, you can put a bowl of water on the ground nearby and they will stretch and grow the aerial roots toward the water. If you aren’t a fan of them, by all means cut them off, it won’t hurt the plant at all. Best of luck! πŸͺ΄πŸŒ±πŸ˜
