What to do with these aerial roots??
These aerial roots are getting looooonngggg! I feel like itβs planning on taking over my bedroom π€£ I tucked a few of the shorter ones back into the soil and theyβve rooted. Should I wrap these inside of the pot? Leave them alone? What do you usually do with yours? #monstera #monsteradeliciosa #MonsteraMob roots">#aerialroots
@swizzles They look good! I donβt do anything with mine. I let them hang as an architectural plant feature. You can definitely trim them back a bit if you want to but you donβt have to if you donβt want to. These are used to stabilize your plant as it is a vine. Itβs normal to see these since the plant is a vine that loves to form colonies. We just happen to grow them vertically rather than horizontally. π If you take a cutting of your plant to sell or gift, you take one with the aerial root to form those new roots in soil once it is potted. Itβs ultimately up to you to decide what to do. Mine have roots 5-6 feet long and still growing despiteβs moss poles. They are an interesting feature and itβs up to you ti decide what you want to do. Happy Growing!πΏ
@robbi_rose haha I didnβt mind them! But I ended up trimming them and sticking them back into the pot βΊοΈ
Let them do their thing! Back when I first started with monsteras I wasnβt a fan of the aerial roots. Now that Iβm a few years (and more than a few plants!) in, theyβve started to grow on me π I put my big guy up on a table and the aerial roots look fantastic, almost like art. If you like them, you can put a bowl of water on the ground nearby and they will stretch and grow the aerial roots toward the water. If you arenβt a fan of them, by all means cut them off, it wonβt hurt the plant at all. Best of luck! πͺ΄π±π
