What to do with a desert rose immediately after shipping ...
1ft to light, indirect
4β pot with drainage
Last watered 2 days ago
I have 2 very large desert rose plants, and I have 3 desert rose like yours. I got them in August 2024, and they didnβt even have a caudex yet (they were grown from seed). One pic is when I got them, the next is just about a week ago. VERY slow growers. It didnβt help I had to move them inside for the winter right after getting them. And theyβve been a bit of a struggle, changing soil, pot- the weather here had rained a lot so soil got very wet. Too much to go into. But I can tell you they are outdoors on my east facing patio- getting about 6 hours direct AM sun- then itβs shaded indirect sun the rest of the day. I mix my own soil- 40% cactus/succulent soil, 40% perlite and the rest is orchid bark. I water only when at least half the soil is dry- I stick my fingers down 2-3 inches. Every 3rd water I drop some worm castings on top of the soil and water it in- it gives them some good nutrients naturally. I hope this helps πͺ΄π
