Hi Kelsie! It looks like corking to me. Corking is the plants natural process to help strengthen the stem because MoT get very heavy and corking helps support the plant. If you touch the brown part- is it firm, dry and rigid? If yes I think it’s Corking. If you touch it and is soft, mushy or hollow? If it is- that could be rot. @TopMarigold69 great news! If you have something like a bamboo stick or a chopstick- something you can put in the soil next to the branch, it might give it a little support. I did that with mine as it grew so top heavy.
