CP Talk in preparation for #cpclubthursday

Fortunately I am currently attending a great talk (packed in like sardines as it is so popular and also kids are on school holidays)
This guys has a major CP nursery where he grows all kinds of CPs, he has a nice easy manner but very knowledgeable as he has been doing this for years.
His Nepenthes are impressive and he has been my major supplier for my large Nepenthes which are thriving. So much so that I need to die some of them and use the segments for propagation purposes.
I am hoping to interview him for the podcast someone to Greg community members very soon (we are also interviewing the Greg CEO so if you want to know more about Alex or Greg app and how it all came about add your comments below)
So he has some incredible nepenthes for sale today but I just need to see if I can nab one as they will sell like hotcakes. And why are not cheap as the standard Nepenthes, which I will aim to take photos of and you can see one in the photos, sell for $75 AUD which is about $50 US but they can sell for over $100 (I nearly bought a female Nepenthes and it ultimately sold for $150 AUD so at least $100 US. I have seen superior specimens sell for $700 to nearly $1000 so it’s dependent on rarity and eg pitcher shape. More later but I include a photo of my Nepenthes which has basal shoots so I can now propagate from it and maybe have up to 5 new planrs growing from the old plant.

@Chevysgirl11 Hey Caroline, I have sharing experience and any little knowledge I might have. I never cease to be amazed how dear some plants can be and I am concerned they just like endangered animals , the high prices may lead to removal of the plants from their natural environment such as a report people were stealing VFTs from their natural North Carolina environment

Likewise with some native Australian CPs

Nepenthes can be particularly susceptible to an illegal trade but hopefully things like tissue culture propagating will meet demand while reducing pressure in populations in the wild.

Unfortunately Greg app lacks any real or easy search-ability function as I posted about Keiki some time ago

https://greg.app/question/2jiixj/keikis-love-that-namejust-curious-have-many-people-propagated-their-own-orchids-from-keikis-is-there

I have learnt so much since joining Greg app a few months ago! And lots more to learn from the community as well. Can’t wait 😝

Here are some of the plants I will be publishing about for #cpclubthursday
