Impatiens problems
Hey lovely Greggers ๐ I was hoping some of our group have had and dealt with this issue I'm having (again) with my #impatiens Niamniamensis ๐ญ
She was growing so healthy and happy until early summer, when my jungle got blitzed by bloody thrips... The damage on her leaves isn't typical of thrip damage to my eyes, but it started at the same time. She lost just about every leaf she had (new ones were growing in tightly spiralled and curled and would drop before maturing). I dealt with the original infestation... And she recovered! ๐ฅณ๐
But now the same thing is happening again ๐ญ is this thrips? Or an Impatiens reaction to thrips? (They are particularly sensitive from what I've read). I'm treating her with neem and she's in isolation.
I hope you can see the almost translucent wee dots on her leaves? And the curly new growth. They almost look wet, but they're not, just little translucent dots or spots... No thrip poop to be seen.
Any advice you can collectively give me would be so appreciated!! ๐๐ฅฐ Thank you! Xx

Hi Jenni, it sounds like your Impatiens Niamniamensis is likely dealing with a combination of thrip damage and a plant's natural sensitivity to stress. Thrips can cause significant damage, and Impatiens can be particularly susceptible to their attacks.
Here are some tips to help your plant recover:
* Isolate the plant: Keep it away from other plants to prevent the spread of thrips.
* Neem oil treatment: Continue with the neem oil treatments, but increase the frequency to every 3-4 days for a few weeks.
* Monitor for new infestations: Check the plant regularly for any signs of thrips or other pests.
* Provide optimal growing conditions: Ensure your Impatiens receives bright, indirect light, consistent moisture, and good air circulation.
* Consider repotting: Repotting the plant in fresh, well-draining potting mix can help rejuvenate it.
Be patient, and with consistent care, your Impatiens should recover and start producing healthy new growth. If the problem persists, consult a local nursery or plant expert for further advice.
