African Violet Mix?
What kind of soil should I use on my African Violet. And mine has been in 100% water, will putting it in soil cause root rot? Thank you in advance 😊 #africanviolet #happyplants

@justaplantsgirl the best soil mix is Sphagnum peat moss (for acidity and moisture), vermiculite (for water retention), and perlite (for maximum aeration). You can use orchid bark if you don’t have vermiculite. Key thing is they like lightweight fluffy soil that is slightly acidic. You can also buy a premixed African Violet soil you can buy at the nursery or on Amazon. I bought mine from Amazon.
I buy miracle gro african violet soil and it works well for my violets. I even use it as a base for my moisture loving plants, I just add amendments for those. I would recommend adding a little perlite, especially for new props. I add about 25%.
