Monstera Guttation

I got my first #Monstera two days ago and she has been having a decent amount of water droplets forming on her leaves. I gave her a nice bath upon arriving home because she was fairly dusty and had water spots on her. I now realize the water spots were likely from this guttation.
I’m finding mixed information on whether or not this is something to give attention too. I plan on repotting into custom aroid soil when she comes out of quarantine. Should I maybe do so sooner if she’s been overwatered potentially and that’s why she’s having so much guttation or is it normal?

She looks really healthy. Unless the soul is sopping wet and not drying out, I wouldn’t worry about it myself. Like you, I like to let them adapt a bit before repotting. If the soil just isn’t drying out, I’d lean toward repotting sooner. Such a beautiful plant, good find!
@debbiedo thank you for your insight! I was β€œwasn’t going to buy any new plants” that day but she was a great price and so nice looking I had to bring her home. I did just verify she has fungus gnats though so I am thinking I will repot her today to hopefully clear those out of the house before they spread.
I recently got a Thai Constellation Monstera that also displayed guttation for the first few days. It can be wiped off - apparently the plant exudes it to attract pollinators which you probably don't want in your home (sounds like inviting pests when it's an indoor plant...)
@debbiedo suggestions sound like very good advice - keep an eye on the soil and repot if too wet. Best of luck! Such a gorgeous plant.
i think water droplets on their leaves is a normal thing for monsteras it happened to me too
Guttation is completely normal! She's just getting rid of excess water. I love it - it just always feels so nature-y to see them behave like they would in the wild! πŸͺ΄πŸŒΏβ˜ΊοΈ
@pothosslut I was excited when I first saw it because I felt the same way. But then it kept happening more on all the leaves so I looked into it. I saw some information saying it’s because she’s overwatered so I got worried. I’m glad it’s normal because I honestly really love it.
@UphorbiaUphoria Welcome home to your new Monstera. I think we have all experienced guttation on one plant or another. This will happen less once your plant acclimates & is on a consistent watering routine. When my Monstera or Alocasias do it, I make sure to wipe off the excess water by flicking it off the ends or wiping with a paper towel. Especially on my Alo’s as it causes the tips to brown or yellow faster. As for the fungus gnats, I have been using these drops in my water cycle. It has definitely helped. I hardly see any flying around anymore. I bought it on Amazon. It’s suggested to use 1 drop per gallon of water. Every other water for 2 weeks. Using anymore is just wasting product. I have used it only twice when the gnats start to appear. The gnat cannot reproduce in the soil treated with this product. So eventually they will die off. Hope this info helps.
