Calathea power
Some of these Calatheas (Goeppertia) have such will at living. Unlike others (I am having a hard time making Dottie and Silver Plate happen, my Cora is also quite grumpy at the moment..)
But the White Fusion! (That I have only heard bad things about). And Yellow Fusion, and Makoyana. They just want to live, no mather what, it seems. And therefore I also end up with waay too many of each of themπ (can't throw away a part of the root that wants to liiive right?).
It is 1 and 1/2 month since I repotted my white fusion, and this part was "left over". The tried old leaves are gone, but we are having new growth π€π±
(Don't get me wrong, I still have yellow leaves and crispy edges, but they want to liiveπ)

@MockingJay GORGEOUS calatheas ππ€© And agree π― My Makoyana is one of my most cheerful, prolific growersβshe just keeps on going! Iβve also wanted a White Fusion for a very long time, but have never found it in person. (Calatheas are one of those plants that I donβt buy online if I can help it.) I always had the feeling that it gets a bad rap, like my Freddie whoβs never even had a hissy fit.
I am also having a hard time making my Dottie happy for some reason! She seems to be doing better after my switch to rainwater, but she still remains my most vocally sassy. Sheβs got excellent communication skills, and boundariesβ¦ but I havenβt quite yet learned her language.
Thank you for sharing π€π₯°

@MamaLinne thank you π You just have to start with the *right* one. I was lucky with my first Makoyana that thrived no matter what, and made me fall in love with all Goeppertias, even though most of them are not as easyπ
@DreamMachine there are huge differences from plant to plant I think π€ You can get lucky and get a "good" specimen, or a bad one, even of the same type. But some are probably just more difficult than othersπ
Most important is to keep the roots healthy, if you manage that, they will regrow no matter what π

@MockingJay Absolutely!! I am convinced of individual plant personalities. Have you read βThe Light Eatersβ by ZoΓ« Schlanger? This section, not just my highlight, fascinates me!
@DreamMachine I cannot beleve they "just recently" started to research if animsls have different personalities, as if anyone that have had several pets (cats) doesn't know that they do π
And ofcourse that would include plants tooπ€·ββοΈπ

@MockingJay I know right! Scientists lagging behind in this aspect. We could have alllll told them a billion years ago, metaphorically. π
@MockingJay I canβt get my white fusion to be happy no matter what I do. However my Royal, her neighbor is blooming and happy.
@Dawgfreak very pretty ππΈ
I guess you should try putting a live worm in your white fusion's soilπ πͺ±
Though I see you have the 'Stella', even if similar to White Fusion, it might act differentπ€

@MockingJay Iβm still adding my inventory to Greg. The Stella is just as difficult for me. I do use Fox Farm and it is made with worm casings and bat poop. π
@SvelteKingfern yeah the situation is just that they keep multiplying and I end up with way too manyπ€£
I need to get a bigger house π
Luckily (sadly) I was able to give away 4 todayπͺ΄πͺ΄πͺ΄πͺ΄π
(Also, just to be clear, will to live doesn't necessarily equal thriving π )
