Well, I told myself this spring and summer I was going to slow down and just take a break from getting anything new… so naturally I had to buy some plants. 🤦♀️ I got a new cute kumquat, I added a parent of the Meiwa. This particular kumquat is a rather old variety: it dates back to the 1700s. It’s called a ‘Marumi’ kumquat. I added this one; replaced a plant I love that passed away; my bad 😞 and then I got some mystery caladium bulbs; as well as some more mystery Hoyas. So excited 😆 but also starting to wonder where I’m going to put everything. I have a problem with not doing things on a small scale. Kinda always.. 🤦♀️ I just ordered so no new pictures yet #HappyPlants #PlantsMakePeopleHappy #PlantAddict #NewGrowth #PlantTherapy #TheThread #TheWateringHole #PetsAndPlants #PlantCorner
@Idplantthat I said the same thing. It gets overwhelming when you have to water 75 plants at a time. But then I went and bought a sago palm, windmill palm, pencil cactus, a dwarf orange tree, and a huge ponytail palm.
They are in my basement in quarantine. Which is a good thing since I found mealys in the ponytail palm.
But I don’t have any ideas of where they are going to live once they are out of quarantine 🤦♀️
I think I might have to combine most of my small plants to a community pot and let the strugglers die. It’s survival of the fittest up in here!!!

@IWantThatPlant I LOVE everything you are saying here! I totally get it. I’m not sure where you live, but I’ve got two ponytail palms in twenty-gallon planters; they summer outside in a shaded area, then I bring them in for winter. I do the same with my oranges. I’ve got the pencil cactus that also summers outdoors. The other palms, I know what they are but do not have them. 🤣 Windmill palms are so dang cute though! I love their looks. Sago I’m not as familiar with. What kind of orange did you get? Oranges were my first ever real plant. I started on oranges. 🍊 Citrus is a big favorite of mine. And banana leaves!
@IWantThatPlant ooh, new acquisitions!! ☺️ Boo on the mealys though! And I don’t know if you have any pets, and this is totally NOT my place to butt in 🤪, but if you do make sure they cannot access the sago palm at all! I only recently learned that they are one of the more seriously toxic and dangerous plants, and they don’t put warnings ⚠️ on them! Something about how the toxins they have are not crystals but liquid sap, so it IS possible for a pet to die by ingesting only a small amount. 🥺 😖
@DreamMachine thank you! I just read about that when I was researching details about the plant. We don’t have any pets right now, but I do like to make note of the plants that aren’t good for pets (or humans😍) so I know to keep them away.
You are right though, they don’t have any warning language on them. Thank goodness for my planty friends and my nerd undertones (needing to know what I am getting into!). So thank you for your warning!!! 😘

@DreamMachine and you are always welcome to “butt in” anytime you want!!!😘
@IWantThatPlant oh good!! 😮💨 Glad that might have been helpful. Love my nerdy plant people 😁🫶🥰
And I know right! Something that toxic should really have a warning, I remember being shocked when I found out 🤪

@IWantThatPlant hehehehe, well thank goodness, because I don’t know how not to 😂😘♥️♥️
@Idplantthat I have no idea what type of orange tree I ended up with. My husband picked it out, I think he was excited that he could grow his own oranges for ‘old fashioneds’🤣
@IWantThatPlant That’s hilarious! 😂 I love it; depending on what variety it is, you could have oranges this year. 😉 But that’s generally if it’s a kumquat; they grow year-round. I have a few different kumquats, and I love them so much! But I also have mandarins, true oranges, and blood oranges. All in containers; although I’m gonna push the zone with one this year 🫶🏻🤞. If I can help at all with orange care, let me know. They can be funny about life. 🤣 I’m so happy @DreamMachine told you about the palms; even though you might not have any four-legged family now, you could one day.. 🤷♀️ Oh! Do be careful of spiders and things living in the husk of your palms, down south in Utah where I live (I live more centrally at the base of ski resorts). But down south close to the Arizona border is a smaller town called St. George; it’s about thirty minutes out of Vegas. Anyway, tons of people grow palms down there, and it’s the one thing we all know: never touch the palms! Scorpions get in them; bugs do. So just be careful; otherwise, I’ve got zero other safety tips; aside from not petting the ponytail; its leaves can cut you. I learned the hard way. (Like most things in life; I like to touch everything 🤣)
