Monstera tips!!
Hi friends! When I was given this monstera this poor leaf was already munched on, Iβve let it be for maybe two months or more now. And the newest leaf was still soft and never hardened and matured.
I moved her to this corner and I think I can see the beginning of what will be new growth??
Tips please!! Should I trim off this leaf? #HappyPlants #PlantsMakePeopleHappy #PlantAddict #NewGrowth #MonsteraMonday #Monstera #MonsteraMob #monsteradeliciosa

Do not trim the leaf, it is chock full of stored nutrients and the plant needs it for photosynthesis. When the plant is stable enough to lose a leaf, it will start reabsorbing the nutrients from its oldest (lowest) leaf and it will slowly turn yellow and drop like fall foliage. If you chop off a leaf prematurely, you will set back the plantβs growth. There are definitely species of plants that respond well to or need pruning, but plants like monstera and orchids do not because they are relying on the photosynthesizing cells and nutrients stored in all of their leaves to sustain their current needs and fuel future growth. When you chop leaves on a monstera, you generally see a reversion in its fenestration/pinnation and leaf size as it works to rebuild the energy and nutrient storage it had in the leaf that was chopped off.
That newest leaf looks like it may have unfurled while the plant was very thirsty and just hardened flopped down like that because it didnβt have enough water to hold it erect. Or it could still be in the process of hardening, but the color looks like itβs hardened on my screen.
Is it getting enough light in that corner?
