Tradescantia zebrina cultivars, class of '26 πŸ˜›

Hey #GregFam and happy Sunday! Hope everyone's having a great weekend. I recently gathered all my zebrina cultivars for a little family portrait and wanted to share. There are a total of 22 registered unique zebrina cultivarsβ€”this photo has 15 of them ☺️

A few Reddit users thought it was a single pot with all of them together, but I'm way too OCD to mix them up! Each cultivar is in its own separate (labeled) pot 😜

WOW Steph! That’s an impressive and GORGEOUS collection of Zebrinas!!
@debbiedo thanks Debbie! πŸ₯° I could have stared at it all day, but my cats would've turned it into a zebrina massacre lol. I really enjoyed seeing them all together like that!
@stephonicle so beautiful!! It’s an amazing collection of color. Thanks for sharing!!
I can’t wait until mine are this big. They’re gorgeous

@stephonicle I have a question I’ve been meaning to ask! Before I knew much about plants, I planted this zebrina in a glass terrarium with no drainage (there is a thick layer of rocks at the bottom). At this point, I only wanted it about once a month for fear of overwatering- in general, it looks pretty good…would you advice biting the bullet and repotting? Or just leave it alone as long as it’s happy?
@MamaLinne hey Deb! What you have there actually isn't a zebrina. Even though it kind of looks like a Nanouk, it's not that either. Looks like a member of the Continental Group, which is made up of hybrids w/ unknown origins that have pink/white or green/white variegation. Many of them are almost impossible to tell apart, but I think yours might be one with a very boring official name (EC-TRADE-2011) that's often sold under the name "Feelin' Flirty" πŸ˜›

I mean, if it ain't broke, right? 😜 I don't think you need to do a full repot. Instead, what I would do is start taking cuttings and sticking them in a regular pot. These grow SUPER compact, so it will probably get harder and harder to water it without drowning much of the lowest growth. And in an enclosed space like a glass terrarium with poor airflow, you could end up with a bunch of rot at the bottom. I use that method in place of traditional repotting for all my tradescantia, where I just start filling up a new, bigger pot with cuttings ☺️
@stephonicle oh interesting!! I probably bought a random pot at HD having no idea what it was or what to do with it! I do often Feel Flirtyℒ️ so it’s perfect. 😝

Great idea on the cuttings! Thank you!
