Blossoms ready to bust out on the Hoya compacta! When I added the photo to my guys gallery it looks like he has a flower crown 🌸👑🌸 Such a cutie patootie 🥹🤭. Got a question too though…. when a plant needs watering, why do some of the pictures show a sad emoji 😞 and some are sleeping with a lock 🔒 on the pic 😴 🔒? Plus, has anyone heard when our pics will be normal again? I’m so over looking at sideways pics or editing/screenshots to make them right! 🔝⬇️↘️🙅‍♀️ #HappyPlants #PlantsMakePeopleHappy #TheWateringHole #untidyTuesday #Hoya #HoyaHangout #HoyaHeads #hoyacompacta flower">#Crownflower #GregGang #GregFeedback #plantprofiles #PlantCorner

@MariansOasis

Hi dear Marian!

Oh...what gorgeous 😍 blossoms 🌸!

Well...my Greg watering setup is different that yours.
It doesn't show a lock or sad emoji...

As far as individual questions go, it's been my experience that Erika or Kirsten have been swift and wonderful with replying to me.

As far as the Greg app itself, there's a serious lack of communication that seems to always exist.

This makes me sad. We have an awesome community who's asking for help...
@MariansOasis oooh how exciting!! How many pedunkadunks do you have? And I absolutely love the Greg flower crown 👑🌸🥰

Re the 🔒 😴 emoji on some plants….I have NO idea!?!? It seemed like it started right around that water notification scrolling page glitch? Does that sound right to you? It’s so weird!

I am right there with you, and so over the sideways pics, or remembering that I need to go take a screenshot real quick of my photo so it works…forgetting which photos I already did that to and getting sideways or even upside down pics? ⬅️↖️⬆️↗️➡️↘️⬇️🙃🫠😑🫨 If I have time today I’ll send them an email.

I want to end this on a not-frustrated note though, 😜 and say, your compacta is BEAUTIFUL and I can’t wait to see the blooms!!! 🤩🤩
@CutePolypremum that’s so interesting that your set up is different. What does it show when it’s time to water?
@DreamMachine there were 4 peduncles, one didn’t mature, 1 kinda iffy & 2 are looking good 😊
And yes, the new sleepy lock 🥱 🔒 showed up right around the scrolling glitch time. AND now the Camera or Photo Library selection is so teeny it’s almost invisible 🫥. 🤪
Oh my gosh… I am for some reason struck by the color of those little flowers. That pale pink on top of the swirling little light green leaves is 😭😭😭😭🤌🤌🤌 I don’t really know anything about Hoyas but I might have to now.. haha

Also yes, I really hope they fix those glitches soon, it’s been a while..
@MariansOasis oh that’s a new one for me. Is it the camera/photo library selection in the identification area?
@Stephazar lol be careful, Hoyas are addictive 🤪 😝!!
@DreamMachine when I go to post a pic in a response, it’s a tiny option for camera or photo library. It used to be much larger. Not fat fingers friendly 😝
@MariansOasis oh YES!! I do have that too UGH 😂🫠🙃 Whyyyyy so tiny
@MariansOasis

None of The Tribe needs watering now but this is how the page looks normally.

When they're dry...the face of the emoji changes to something a little sad 😔 and says "I'm thirsty".

So...either the plant gets watered after checking it, or I hit the Snooze button.

Knock on wood...none of my plant 🪴 ✨️ photos on my Android or tablet has ever been sideways 😅 🤔

Sorry that the photo is blurry !
Let me try again...
I'm sorry Marian, it's beautiful but I have to point out that it is having some troubles. Likely a watering issue.

I think overwatered. Or perhaps your soil choice is too heavy. But the leaves should be curled tightly like a fortune cookie. Some have yellow on the leaves but the yellow is much more distinct when it's meant to be there.

What really caught my attention is the wrinkling. They should not be wrinkled.

The wrinkling happens from both over watering and under watering.

You want the leaves to feel firm and quite thick (think succulent). Very similar to them.

They can also have that happen when they dry out way too much. The little fine hairs on the roots dry up and then they can't drink water. They then absorb water from their leaves to survive which makes them wrinkled.

If she's overwatered the leaves will be soft and squishy feeling. If that's the cause allow her to dry out more between waterings. Try to avoid a schedule. Because the amount of water varies between weeks. It depends so much on weather (even if indoors). And light. If you get rainy days or fog they will slow down on the amount they drink. Growth spurts, more water.

When they are actively flowering like yours is they actually drink MORE water. They are working hard to produce those flowers. If they don't get enough consistent moisture they suffer bud blast, this is when they drop all the beautiful flowers suddenly. It consistent moisture is given they will hold onto those flowers for a very long time and keep flowering for you.

By the way I'm not trying to pick on your plant. She is beautiful. I just like to point out things when I see them so problems don't occur. 🩷
@CutePolypremum that’s the same as I get, a sad face ☹️. But the sleepy lock 😴 🔒 emoji is also showing up recently on some.
@SuperbRaspfern oh this dude has given me palpitations for about 4 years now. It’s in succulent soil, lives outdoors in humid coastal California and gets bright light all day. Most of its leaves are fine but a lot aren’t as you pointed out. 5 years ago it lived indoors and had mealies - treated it with neem and a lot of the leaves shriveled up. I tried for months to bring it around to no avail, so it got sent outdoors to sink or swim. Several times that first year outside I thought it died 🪦. But then there’d be signs of life so no ♻️ to the green bin 😮‍💨. It still continues to shed leaves, grow leaves, and grow peduncles. When I ignore it it’s happiest. When I pay attention to it, it shuns me 🤪 💀😒 So it’s a weird relationship but that’s the way it is. It’s my #untidyTuesday #LivinOnTheEdge plant 🪴. I appreciate your insights but I truly am just letting whatever happens happen. Some of these plants 🪴 get to a point where the time spent is no longer enjoyable for me. So it becomes Que sera, sera! 🪴🪴🪴🪴🪴🪴
@MariansOasis Gottcha, every once in a while you get one like that. Bad genetics, or just plain old failure to thrive. Amazing how one can be perfect and another of the same type is nearby with the same exact conditions and just looks like it's struggling.

At least she's giving you flowers, that's a great sign. She trying..... 🩷
@SuperbRaspfern yep, he’s givin’ it his best shot 🎯 I think a lot of what happened was my inexperience with neem oil. I’m really not a fan of it and wished back then I’d gone with insecticidal soap for this guy. But someone suggested it and I trusted their experience so I gave it a try. 🤷‍♀️ live and learn…. I know many swear by it but not for me, not for my plants or microclimate or whatever! 🤪 😝 😂
The sleepy lock 😴 🔐 shows up when I snooze my plants if I don't think it's time to water them yet. Sad face if they need watered (according to the app). Happy face appears when I hit the water 💧.
The 🔐 in my watering reminders is the newest oddity I’ve noticed too. At. This point I just assume anything new is a glitch, which bums me out 😕

Do you have any good news for us, or updates @Aikalovesphilos @RJG @alex @Kiersten?

I’ve stopped recommending the app to people for now because it’s so glitchy and hard to use 😔

I’m cautiously holding out hope that it will be better than ever soon! 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

I did discover this week that if I CROP a picture before posting it, it posts right side up (on my iPhone). Not a fix by any means, but slightly less complicated than screenshotting everything 🤷‍♀️

And @MariansOasis those peduncles are gorgeous! 😍
@CutePolypremum @DreamMachine
@debbiedo

Oh Debbie!

What an awesome comment you made. It feels like our Community is the only thing keeping our app alive.

Some amazing people have come and gone.

It makes me sad but I'm not giving up!

Our peeps are what keeps me going. I've learned and unlearned so much during my time here.

Most precious are the relationships we make.
I think that's why Greg is a special app. 🤗😎😍
@MariansOasis

Hi dear Marian!

I don't get any lock emojis about watering. .. 🤔😉
@debbiedo

When I email the staff about suggestions, I generally get replies like..."great idea, we'll consider it for the future" but, the future never comes...

I still love Greg and wish we could help somehow.

Anyhoo...am wishing you a sweet day! 😍
@GracedStrapwort I thought that might be the reason but several have the lock 🔒 and I’m positive I didn’t snooze them. 🤷‍♀️
@debbiedo thanks so much! He’s proud of his pedunkydunks too lol 🤪
Totally agree 😴 🔒 is latest glitch AND like you I’m not currently recommending the app. The glitches make it so not user friendly. Screenshots or cropped pics or pics I find on the web all go in correctly. Any of my photo library pics do not ⬇️⬆️➡️⤵️↙️↘️ 😞 😮‍💨
@CutePolypremum yes the wonderful relationships are what makes it fun! I hope Greg can return to its glory-er days sometime soon 👍
Ooooh. Great work. Congrats on the pedunkydunks. It seems to be bloom o'clock in the hoya realm. Please share once they open. 🌸
@MusicalRedmint thanks Susann! 🌸
Absolutely gorgeous! Do you have any tips to get your Hoyas to bloom?
@EcoPlantLover plenty of light!👍 I’m in a coastal climate so we have good humidity and mild climate so no air conditioning and only a few months of heating. They don’t like to be fussed over so find a good spot, water when it almost dries out and try not to hover 🚁 too much 😂. Mine get fertilizer but at 1/2 the recommended amount on the label, with each watering.
