Blossoms ready to bust out on the Hoya compacta! When I added the photo to my guys gallery it looks like he has a flower crown ๐ŸŒธ๐Ÿ‘‘๐ŸŒธ Such a cutie patootie ๐Ÿฅน๐Ÿคญ. Got a question too thoughโ€ฆ. when a plant needs watering, why do some of the pictures show a sad emoji ๐Ÿ˜ž and some are sleeping with a lock ๐Ÿ”’ on the pic ๐Ÿ˜ด ๐Ÿ”’? Plus, has anyone heard when our pics will be normal again? Iโ€™m so over looking at sideways pics or editing/screenshots to make them right! ๐Ÿ”โฌ‡๏ธโ†˜๏ธ๐Ÿ™…โ€โ™€๏ธ #HappyPlants #PlantsMakePeopleHappy #TheWateringHole #untidyTuesday #Hoya #HoyaHangout #HoyaHeads #hoyacompacta flower">#Crownflower #GregGang #GregFeedback #plantprofiles #PlantCorner

@MariansOasis

Hi dear Marian!

Oh...what gorgeous ๐Ÿ˜ blossoms ๐ŸŒธ!

Well...my Greg watering setup is different that yours.
It doesn't show a lock or sad emoji...

As far as individual questions go, it's been my experience that Erika or Kirsten have been swift and wonderful with replying to me.

As far as the Greg app itself, there's a serious lack of communication that seems to always exist.

This makes me sad. We have an awesome community who's asking for help...
@MariansOasis oooh how exciting!! How many pedunkadunks do you have? And I absolutely love the Greg flower crown ๐Ÿ‘‘๐ŸŒธ๐Ÿฅฐ

Re the ๐Ÿ”’ ๐Ÿ˜ด emoji on some plantsโ€ฆ.I have NO idea!?!? It seemed like it started right around that water notification scrolling page glitch? Does that sound right to you? Itโ€™s so weird!

I am right there with you, and so over the sideways pics, or remembering that I need to go take a screenshot real quick of my photo so it worksโ€ฆforgetting which photos I already did that to and getting sideways or even upside down pics? If I have time today Iโ€™ll send them an email.

I want to end this on a not-frustrated note though, ๐Ÿ˜œ and say, your compacta is BEAUTIFUL and I canโ€™t wait to see the blooms!!! ๐Ÿคฉ๐Ÿคฉ
@CutePolypremum thatโ€™s so interesting that your set up is different. What does it show when itโ€™s time to water?
@DreamMachine there were 4 peduncles, one didnโ€™t mature, 1 kinda iffy & 2 are looking good ๐Ÿ˜Š
And yes, the new sleepy lock ๐Ÿฅฑ ๐Ÿ”’ showed up right around the scrolling glitch time. AND now the Camera or Photo Library selection is so teeny itโ€™s almost invisible ๐Ÿซฅ. ๐Ÿคช
Oh my goshโ€ฆ I am for some reason struck by the color of those little flowers. That pale pink on top of the swirling little light green leaves is ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐ŸคŒ๐ŸคŒ๐ŸคŒ I donโ€™t really know anything about Hoyas but I might have to now.. haha

Also yes, I really hope they fix those glitches soon, itโ€™s been a while..
@MariansOasis oh thatโ€™s a new one for me. Is it the camera/photo library selection in the identification area?
@Stephazar lol be careful, Hoyas are addictive ๐Ÿคช ๐Ÿ˜!!
@DreamMachine when I go to post a pic in a response, itโ€™s a tiny option for camera or photo library. It used to be much larger. Not fat fingers friendly ๐Ÿ˜
@MariansOasis oh YES!! I do have that too UGH ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿซ ๐Ÿ™ƒ Whyyyyy so tiny
@MariansOasis

None of The Tribe needs watering now but this is how the page looks normally.

When they're dry...the face of the emoji changes to something a little sad ๐Ÿ˜” and says "I'm thirsty".

So...either the plant gets watered after checking it, or I hit the Snooze button.

Knock on wood...none of my plant ๐Ÿชด โœจ๏ธ photos on my Android or tablet has ever been sideways ๐Ÿ˜… ๐Ÿค”

Sorry that the photo is blurry !
Let me try again...
I'm sorry Marian, it's beautiful but I have to point out that it is having some troubles. Likely a watering issue.

I think overwatered. Or perhaps your soil choice is too heavy. But the leaves should be curled tightly like a fortune cookie. Some have yellow on the leaves but the yellow is much more distinct when it's meant to be there.

What really caught my attention is the wrinkling. They should not be wrinkled.

The wrinkling happens from both over watering and under watering.

You want the leaves to feel firm and quite thick (think succulent). Very similar to them.

They can also have that happen when they dry out way too much. The little fine hairs on the roots dry up and then they can't drink water. They then absorb water from their leaves to survive which makes them wrinkled.

If she's overwatered the leaves will be soft and squishy feeling. If that's the cause allow her to dry out more between waterings. Try to avoid a schedule. Because the amount of water varies between weeks. It depends so much on weather (even if indoors). And light. If you get rainy days or fog they will slow down on the amount they drink. Growth spurts, more water.

When they are actively flowering like yours is they actually drink MORE water. They are working hard to produce those flowers. If they don't get enough consistent moisture they suffer bud blast, this is when they drop all the beautiful flowers suddenly. It consistent moisture is given they will hold onto those flowers for a very long time and keep flowering for you.

By the way I'm not trying to pick on your plant. She is beautiful. I just like to point out things when I see them so problems don't occur. ๐Ÿฉท
@CutePolypremum thatโ€™s the same as I get, a sad face โ˜น๏ธ. But the sleepy lock ๐Ÿ˜ด ๐Ÿ”’ emoji is also showing up recently on some.
@SuperbRaspfern oh this dude has given me palpitations for about 4 years now. Itโ€™s in succulent soil, lives outdoors in humid coastal California and gets bright light all day. Most of its leaves are fine but a lot arenโ€™t as you pointed out. 5 years ago it lived indoors and had mealies - treated it with neem and a lot of the leaves shriveled up. I tried for months to bring it around to no avail, so it got sent outdoors to sink or swim. Several times that first year outside I thought it died ๐Ÿชฆ. But then thereโ€™d be signs of life so no โ™ป๏ธ to the green bin ๐Ÿ˜ฎโ€๐Ÿ’จ. It still continues to shed leaves, grow leaves, and grow peduncles. When I ignore it itโ€™s happiest. When I pay attention to it, it shuns me ๐Ÿคช ๐Ÿ’€๐Ÿ˜’ So itโ€™s a weird relationship but thatโ€™s the way it is. Itโ€™s my #untidyTuesday #LivinOnTheEdge plant ๐Ÿชด. I appreciate your insights but I truly am just letting whatever happens happen. Some of these plants ๐Ÿชด get to a point where the time spent is no longer enjoyable for me. So it becomes Que sera, sera! ๐Ÿชด๐Ÿชด๐Ÿชด๐Ÿชด๐Ÿชด๐Ÿชด
@MariansOasis Gottcha, every once in a while you get one like that. Bad genetics, or just plain old failure to thrive. Amazing how one can be perfect and another of the same type is nearby with the same exact conditions and just looks like it's struggling.

At least she's giving you flowers, that's a great sign. She trying..... ๐Ÿฉท
@SuperbRaspfern yep, heโ€™s givinโ€™ it his best shot ๐ŸŽฏ I think a lot of what happened was my inexperience with neem oil. Iโ€™m really not a fan of it and wished back then Iโ€™d gone with insecticidal soap for this guy. But someone suggested it and I trusted their experience so I gave it a try. ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ live and learnโ€ฆ. I know many swear by it but not for me, not for my plants or microclimate or whatever! ๐Ÿคช ๐Ÿ˜ ๐Ÿ˜‚
