#TheWateringHole Good afternoon 🌞 and happy Monday to all...

#TheWateringHole Good afternoon 🌞 and happy Monday to all my #TheWateringHole friends! After a couple of crazy busy weeks at work, followed by working some over the weekend, I’m enjoying a rare weekday off! Did a little watering before heading out for an out of town doctor appointment. After getting back and having a late Waffle House brunch, I’ve been finishing up the watering and doing a little oasis re-arranging to make more room. Pic one is on my way home from the our local Ingles grocery store with my new philodendron Birken I bought after encouragement from my plant πŸͺ΄ addiction enabler aka my husband. While looking πŸ‘€ the department manager came over to help. We talked plants for a few minutes and she let me know when they get deliveries 🚚 . Grocery stores have upped their plant πŸͺ΄ game in recent years. What’s your favorite grocery store plant source? Pic 2 is my new leaf πŸƒ my starfish snake 🐍 plant is pushing out. It’s a slow grower so I get real excited to see new growth. I really want it to produce pups, but looks like I’ll have to keep waiting. pic 3 is my moonshine snake 🐍 plant It’s pup is really growing now! I need to do some repotting, but it’s way too hot πŸ₯΅ outside right now! Speaking of repotting, what soil or blends do you recommend for repotting pothos? I’m getting adds for Molly’s Aroid Mix in my Facebook feed? Anyone have experience with that product? So what’s happening at your oasis today? Let’s get this plant πŸͺ΄ party 🎈 started!

Pretty 😍 plants. I got new plants today. Two hoyas. My new obsession. I have seen it on Amazon but I have never used it. I used the same mix thru all my plants.
@planthoe40 Hoyas seem to be really popular on here. I haven’t got any yet. Snake 🐍 plants and pothos are my most recent obsessions!
No grocery store plant purchases recently, but my neighbor gave me these today because she had to make room for the plants she needs to bring back inside this fall…such a shame, right?
@debbiedo you’re such a good neighbor for taking these off of her hands! They look πŸ‘€ pretty healthy.
@RefinedSandwort Your Starfish Snake plant is looking great! Mine started tiny with two little pups, and now has three big pups…I’m also hoping for more! 🀞🏻
@debbiedo love πŸ’• that pottery pot in the first pic!
@RefinedSandwort Joy they are pretty. The grow so slow that most times I don’t even look for new growth on my snake plants. But very surprised when I see them. This weekend I spent it repotting the plants that have been in their pot for more than 2 years. Most of the soil looked dried out but the roots said they could have stayed in their pot longer. I combined the plants I have 2 of. Of course I did some rearranging for all those plants I bought just because. Just because I have a problem. As you know I went to Home Depot I didn’t buy anything. I’m thinking about a monstera that was in a gallon pot for $20. I’m also thinking about that water log plant too. My addiction is out of control. I’m eyeing the freezer in my living room it needs to go!!!! More space for more shelves πŸ₯³πŸ₯³πŸ₯³πŸ₯³πŸŒΌπŸŒΌπŸŒΌπŸŒ±πŸƒ
@planthoe40 Misty where are the pictures
@debbiedo wow Debbie what a great neighbor. They are pretty
@debbiedo I love the way it spreading its wings
@RefinedSandwort Loving your new Birkin! What a good supportive enabler, er, that is, husband you have lol πŸ˜‚πŸ˜ And your moonshine pup is so gorgeous, what a lovely color!

I am also deep in my Hoya obsession, like Misty @planthoe40 and Debbie @debbiedo and loads more people πŸ˜… And I actually think you would love them Joy. They’re like tropical succulents! So you get beautiful foliage and flowers, but they also are much better at being underwatered than overwatered. There’s sooo many different kinds and they all have different leaf textures (fuzzy, suede, velvet, smooth, etc), shapes, flowers, and floral scents!

My Hoya sp aff burtoniae, aka my favorite hoya child 🀫 , lol, is about to flower for the first time! I got him last year on August 27, and he was my first hoya πŸ™Œ His flowers are supposed to smell like rich butterscotch/caramel πŸ˜‹

And here are a few more hoya favorites!

1-2: H. sp aff burtoniae and his peduncle. I love letting his suede leaves
3: H. clemensorium baby leaves πŸ₯ΉπŸ€
4: H. latifolia, beautiful leaves, showing a little pink sun stressing
5: H. callistophylla, just a show stopper!!

…dang it, I started rambling about hoyas, AGAIN!! πŸ™„πŸ˜‚
Some supermarkets always carry season stuff, hydrangeas in spring, poinsettias in winter. Luckily none of the supermarkets near me carry plants, but there is a local co-op nearby that always has a great selection of locally grown plants, trees, veggies and cacti.
It’s been far too hot and humid here to do much outside, so I rearranged the grow lights in my office over the weekend. Had one cooler day so I trimmed up the pink knotweed that was getting out of control.
@DreamMachine your Hoyas are beautiful 🀩! Might have to give them a try at some point!
@FamedGymealily It has been hot πŸ₯΅ and humid where I’m at. It isn’t motivating for any outside task. If I could have grow lights in my office at work, my plant addiction would really be out of control. It’s in an older building and outlets are maxed out!
@FitBrowallia I am looking πŸ‘€ for places for another plant stand or two in my sunroom. Trying to make more room here, too!
@RefinedSandwort should have said my home office. I keep cacti and succulents under the grow lights, most have been given or rehomed to me when friends have moved out of the country - most have been on life support but starting to look good again.
@FitBrowallia Jonchel you are too funny! What good is that freezer compared to plants?? πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚
@RefinedSandwort My daughter made that pot!
@DreamMachine oh my Nadia they are beautiful
@RefinedSandwort Aren’t I just the most benevolent neighbor? πŸ˜‡
@DreamMachine no Nadia more plants. My daughter is in her 3 year of college and I don’t cook or buy in bulk like I use to. So it’s going. To show you how long since I’ve been in it, the youngest item was 2 years old lol
@FitBrowallia Thank you Jonchel! I’m going to have to rearrange soon because it’s spreading its ring right out of its space! πŸ˜‚πŸͺ½
@RefinedSandwort yes take pictures
@RefinedSandwort Joy, I agree with @DreamMachine that you’d love Hoyas once you got started 🌱 NONE of mine have even flowered yet, and I STILL love them! πŸ˜‰
@debbiedo You are so selfless Debbie, and an inspiration to us all for so graciously giving your neighbors’s plants a good home πŸ₯²πŸ₯ΉπŸ˜πŸ₯°πŸ˜œ
@RefinedSandwort good evening πŸŒ†! Your new Birken is gorgeous!! The deep green with the contrast lines πŸ˜πŸ˜ŠπŸ« πŸ‘
Hi Joy! Sounds like you’ve had a great day! I am really liking the Mollys aroid mix. A lot of folks make their own, but I find it super easy to use and great quality! Definitely dries out faster than my soil/perlite/orchid bark mix so checking on those plants a little more often. I, too, am on the hoya obsession train- just bought my 31st variety- Globulosa- that I absolutely love! And seeing as how there are over 700 varieties, I think 31 is showing a lot of restraint. πŸ˜‡πŸ˜‚ I’m also loving this new leaf of my summer glory!
@MamaLinne congratulations on Hoya 31! It’s a beauty! Isn’t it great that automakers put those built in plant πŸͺ΄ holders in cars . Love the color of that new summer glory leaf. So pretty!
@DreamMachine yes yes, I’m so happy to inspire you to try something new πŸ˜ŒπŸ˜‰
