This is Abyt, my little mantis buddy. 😍😍🖤 He loves to "hang out" (see what I did, there? 😂) on Zenai, one of my two braided trees. I'm not sure if he actually lives ON her, but that is the only place I ever see him, so it's a fair enough assumption. 🤷🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️😂 And yes, I'm almost certain it's the same mantis. I believe he just went through a molt stage, thus, the colour change.

I've been tempted to go put him on Jezebel in hopes that he will help me with the mealybugs, but they're so slow I doubt they would trigger his predatory responses 🤔🤔 Although, I have read that juvenile males are somewhat more likely to eat those little buggers.
On another note, as much as I don't want to lose Abyt... I really need him to go out and find himself a mistress so they can make babies together.... I DEFINITELY need help with all the infernal frigging grasshoppers🤦🏻♀️😂😂😂

@SpyderLily Great location for a Mantis. Praying mantises do live and hunt on plants like hibiscus. They do not eat the plant itself, but instead use shrubs like hibiscus as a home and hunting ground to catch other bugs.
@Ms.Persnickety Well he bein' super lazy today because I have flicked AT LEAST five grasshoppers off of that damn tree just in the last few hours 🙄🙄🤦🏻♀️

@Ms.Persnickety Grasshopper was last October on one of my front windows, the catydid was September of '23 in my backyard 😍😍 I found it all quite fascinating LOL
@SpyderLily it's illegal to catch them here, but I had one that got attacked and hurt so I tried hinding It and helping it, after a month a manis landed on my head and I thought it might've been the same one, but who knows there are many! Maybe it was just resting 😅
😂😂😂😂😂 He's staking out one of the flowers and almost got himself killed trying to get the hummingbird that came down for a sip. Talk about punching above your weight class 🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️🤣🤣🤣 He's WAY too young to be going after that kind of prize and was nearly eaten, himself, for his troubles 😂
