Split-leaf philodendron is an incorrect synonym for monstera deliciosa. You'd think the folks in charge of labeling plants would actually care about accuracy. But these are probably the same people who convinced folks to water their plants with a freakin ice cube, so they're obviously completely unhinged sociopaths lol ๐
@Blessedladybug @stephonicle ๐ Unhinged sociopaths indeed!! Haha Looks like a Monstera Deliciosa to me as well. ๐
@stephonicle @princesspitstop came here to comment the same thing, and the work has already been done ๐ ๐ Yep, monstera it is!
Also I have not decided if those unhinged sociopaths were trying to be helpful with the ice cube watering (as in, you only need a small amount of water) or absolutely malicious (as in, muahaha they will kill their tropical plants with ice and be forced to buy more). ๐ค

@Blessedladybug While often confused due to similar split leaves, Monstera deliciosa (Swiss cheese plant) is a climbing plant with leaf holes (fenestrations) and smooth, glossy leaves. A true "Split Leaf Philodendron" (usually Philodendron bipinnatifidum) has, more compact, bushier growth, with deeply lobed leaves that lack holes, appearing more ruffled and having a rougher, leathery texture. Leaves: Monstera leaves feature both splits and holes (fenestrations) in the leaf blade. Split-leaf philodendrons have deep, finger-like lobes that extend from the edges but lack inner holes.
Growth Habit: Monstera is a climber that requires support and uses aerial roots. Split-leaf philodendrons are generally self-heading, meaning they grow upward and develop a thick, tree-like stem. Texture: Monstera leaves are glossy and smooth, whereas philodendron leaves are often more matte or rough. Although they are often confused, they are often cared for similarly. Both are in the Araceae family, contain calcium oxalate (toxic to pets), and prefer moderate indirect light.

@NiftyCapsicum39 @ZestyWhiteghost whether someone is a hinged or unhinged! Watering tropical/any plants with ice cubes is not really helpful advice. Even with the Global warming, when was the last time that there was a Blizzard in the Tropics? Not happening, just saying!
