@LittleSongbird not your fault they glued them on.. good job on trying. The wound will callus over. Visually it might not look that great, but over time the cactus may grow to hide it, depends on how it grows. I once dropped something on my giant chin cactus and left a huge cut, but now I cant even see the wound anymore. But I guess they grow quite differently.
@LittleSongbird you could cut the bulbs with fake flowers off at the base. In that way the rest of the cactus will grow to fill the gap, and you might get new baby-cactus from those you cut.
I cut one of my cactus in half 6 months ago because it had gotten a narrow waist and wouldnt stand straight anymore🙈. Now there are new babies starting to fill the gap, and the top is a new cactus all by itself 😄
