How to fertilize Appletini Hens and Chicks

Most potting soils come with ample nutrients which plants use to produce new growth.
By the time your plant has depleted the nutrients in its soil it’s likely grown enough to need a larger pot anyway.
To replenish this plant's nutrients, repot your Appletini Hens and Chicks after it doubles in size or once a year—whichever comes first.

Plant Mail + lighting question #plantmail #plantsmakepeoplehappy Plant mail today! Lepismium cruciformus - I guess I can join the ranks of the #cactusclique (is it a cactus, or a succulent?). Tree Aeonium #treeaeonium....love the pictures of these and desperately want this to work...it arrived a little smooshed out of shape, but I suspect it will relax overnight or when it gets a drink. #Sempervivum Jungle Fires. Hope I can keep this baby alive! And lastly , #stringofwatermelons String of WATERMELONS - so cute! For the SOW the lighting details say indirect sunlight, but the plant card says direct sunlight 🤔. What the heck is a plant parent to do? I've seen some of your pics where these are outside (and flowering even...Jennifer @Boymom-plantmom has one!), but lots of pics online where folks keep them inside. Based on the looks of the tips of the plant as shipped, it has had some sunlight recently (tips are lighter colored and slightly pink).

@WickedLush and I had a fun #SaturdaySwaps and my box came today! Lots of great cuttings and I got a laugh out of the labels. (I just may have to pass this on in the next swap). Very excited to expand my succulent collection as well as adding to my pothos collection and of course the Hilo Beauty. 🥰🥰🥰 #HappyPlants #PlantsMakePeopleHappy #PlantAddict #PropagationStation #SucculentLove #PlantTherapy #PlantSwap #HiloBeauty #Sedum #Sempervivum #SatinPothos #exotica #CreepingInchPlant #swapdontshop #swappingisfun

What in the world?? Why is my plant turning brown?? #Sempervivum

This plant looks bad should I cut it back? The app says to put it in direct sunlight so I'm going to do that but should I do anything else with it before that? #Sempervivum

Okay is this variegation or disease? #Sempervivum

Does this bastard still have a chance or is he going to croak? #Sempervivum

Frozen succulent? Did I freeze my poor plant? It got down to about 19 F last night, and I know Sempervivum are very cold hardy. She just looks so sad and grey now. #succulentsquad #succulentlove #sempervivum #plantaddict

Winter Acclimation? Question: is it too late in the season to get plants acclimated to being outside? I just got some Sempervivums and a hardy Sedum variety as a Christmas gift for my mom. I know those species are very cold hardy, and my winters don't get too terribly cold (our new zone is 8a, previously 7b). Tomorrow is going to be very mild and cloudy, but we are going to get right around freezing overnight. Should I go ahead and shove them outside? #succulentsquad #succulentlove #plantsmakepeoplehappy #plantaddict #sempervivum #sedum
Appletini Hens and Chicks thrives in dry soil and should be watered sparingly. Use our water calculator to personalize watering recommendations to your environment or download Greg for more advanced recommendations for all of your plants.

🐶 🐈 👶 Toxicity
Greg does not have confirmed data on this plant’s toxicity. If you, a family member, or a pet consumes plant material of unknown toxicity, it’s always best to consult a medical professional.
If you or someone else ingested this plant, call Poison Control at US (800) 222-1222. If a pet consumed this plant, contact your veterinarian or the ASPCA at US (888) 426-4435.
💨 Humidity
Appletini Hens and Chicks prefers dry environments. Providing extra humidity or misting your plant allows water to linger on leaves, which can create the perfect environment for harmful types of fungi.
🪴 Soil
Appletini Hens and Chicks is very sensitive to wet soil, so choose a potting soil that drains very well and doesn’t retain too much moisture. A good soil will have lots of perlite or vermiculite for drainage and some organic matter for nutrition. A few handfuls of perlite added to regular store-bought cactus soil will do the trick!
💩 Fertilizer
Appletini Hens and Chicks should be repotted after it doubles in size or once a year, whichever comes first. Fresh potting soil has all the nutrients your plant needs, so as long as it’s refreshed yearly, you shouldn’t need to use fertilizer. Remember, plants get their energy from sunlight, not fertilizer!
❄️ Dormancy
It’s common for Appletini Hens and Chicks to go dormant in the wintertime and you may notice their growth slow down. Waterings should be spaced out more during this time.
🌎 Native Region
Appletini Hens and Chicks is native to the Mediterranean.
🧐 Troubleshooting
When troubleshooting a sad-looking houseplant, start by checking for signs of distress in its leaves, such as yellowing, browning, or drooping, which can indicate overwatering or nutrient deficiencies.
Inspect the soil moisture; too dry or too wet soil can cause problems.
Ensure the plant is getting the right amount of light, as too much or too little can stress it.
Finally, consider environmental factors like temperature and humidity, and adjust care routines accordingly to revive your plant.
