Variegated Aluminum Plant
About Variegated Aluminum Plant
Pilea plants are native to regions worldwide, and often have succulent, water-storing leaves. A handful of them are grown as houseplants, but the rest of the 600+ species are wild plants. Their name comes from the Latin for 'felt cap' which refers to the unique way that their fruits are protected. Fossils of Pilea species have been found dating back over 5 million years ago!

How to fertilize Variegated Aluminum Plant

Most potting soils come with ample nutrients which plants use to produce new growth.
By the time your plant has depleted the nutrients in its soil it’s likely grown enough to need a larger pot anyway.
To replenish this plant's nutrients, repot your Variegated Aluminum Plant after it doubles in size or once a year—whichever comes first.

HELP!! Greetings Plantpeeps! I need help with my new pilea!😭 She arrived on the 31st, and I had her sitting apart from my other plants. I've been keeping the watering schedule thru Greg. I really want to repot her. However, I'm really nervous, with so many leaves dropping. Not sure what she needs. Please help!😬 #pilea #pileapeperomioides #help

Is she dead or dormant..? This poor baby pilea. She’s had it rough. If you’ve seen the rather panicked saga, then you’d know that last week I treated her for root rot and all her leaves fell off, making it hard for me to tell how she’s doing in the recovery stage. In the past, I’ve been really unsuccessful in bringing plants back from rot (I usually don’t realise until it’s too late), and so I’m super nervous about her. I know I shouldn’t have introduced any more water to her after the rot treatment, but the stalk was starting to shrivel a little bit and so I gave her a tiny spritz of water, only enough to wet the very topmost layer of soil, just to see her through. So. The real question. Do you think she’s dead, or is she just dormant? The tips of the stalk aren’t black like my last money plant that died, but I’m not sure if that actually means she’s alive, especially as I’m not sure if she’s working on a leaf right now (I wouldn’t expect so given the rot). What are your thoughts? Will she live? (Apologies if the pictures are blurry) #PlantsMakePeopleHappy #PlantAddict #PlantTherapy #RootRot #babyplants #ChineseMoneyPlant #Pilea #PileaPeperomioides

Plant starting to shrivel #Pilea My Chinese money plant was doing SO good and even grew some other babies. However my largest plant (on the right) randomly shriveled up and died and now the babies are starting to wilt and struggle to grow new leaves. The ONLY thing that’s really changed is I haven’t given it the all purpose plant food that I get from Kroger in about the past month.

Any good tips for Baby's Tears? I've had a bit of a die-off of some plants, and as a preventative measure, I'm asking now #greggang. Do you have any tips on how to make these thrive? #babystears #stayinalive #pilea #plantssavedmymentalhealth #planttherapy #adhdplantlovers #indoorgardening #plantsmakepeoplehappy

Any sugggestions on how to perk these up? I feel like they could use some extra care to thrive. #Pilea

Penny with all her pups. I cut them off mother penny and then put honey on the cut part of the pup before planting them onto soil and they have been doing VERY well. Penny also has two more pups growing but they have slowed down since it is winter, I will plant them come spring. #HappyPlants #PropagationStation #Pilea #ChineseMoneyPlant

Why did my #ChineseMoneyPlant just chuck off its own leaf? So I got this baby #Pilea from my grandparents over Christmas as another chance to grow these beauties. Why did it do thissss? The leaf was fully attached last night, and this morning it just popped off (I didn’t touch it) A couple of the leaves came off from where I was handling it a bit too much (I forget how delicate these things are), but this last one came off all on its own. I know it’s very close to the window, but I’ve moved house recently so I’m struggling to find the right spots for all my plants, and it’s winter right now which is why she’s so close to the window, but she’s shaded by a couple other plants to try and mitigate that. Any thoughts? #PlantsMakePeopleHappy #help #PlantAddict #PlantTherapy

What’s happening to her 😭 I will be damned if I let this lil darling die. Again. (Thsi is my second attempt at a #ChineseMoneyPlant 😭) She was completely fine yesterday night (first pic), and now her stems are going brown and slightly shrivelled? This is what happened to my last one not long before it died and I don’t want a repeat of that. The last soil she was in went hydrophobic, so I repotted her into a soil/perlite mix (with a little bit of sphagnum moss and lavalite in there, but a negligible amount really. It was left overs from my failed terrarium but it had been treated with bleach so don’t worry it should be sterile, and I see no signs of mold with her anyway) and she really seemed to perk up, and now this!! Please help me figure out what’s happening 😭 #Pilea #help #babyplants #PlantsMakePeopleHappy #PlantAddict #PlantCorner #BeforeAndAfter
