About phalaenopsis orchid
Phalaenopsis orchids get their name from the Greek 'phalaina' meaning moth, as their flowers are thought to resemble moth or butterfly wings! 🦋 Once their flowers have blossomed, they will eventually die but the plant will live one and continue to produce new flower spikes throughout its life. Orchid flowers evolved to attract pollinators and ther unique shape helps keep insects safe while collecting and dispersing pollen! 🐝

How to fertilize phalaenopsis orchid
Most potting soils come with ample nutrients which plants use to produce new growth.
By the time your plant has depleted the nutrients in its soil it’s likely grown enough to need a larger pot anyway.
To replenish this plant's nutrients, repot your phalaenopsis orchid after it doubles in size or once a year—whichever comes first.

Not sure how but while on vacation the blossoms on my Orchid fell off😔 I’m glad I got to see at least two flowers before this happened… #OrchidLovers

Save my orchid #Phalaenopsis Hi All. I've repotted my orchid and found that the pot was way too moist. Most of her roots had rotten off. I now put her into a plastic pot with ventilation holes and new orchid mix. What else must I do to create an ICU environment for her?

Save my orchid! #Phalaenopsis Hi. My orchid suddenly started dying. I repotted it in a new orchid mix, removed all the dead dry roots. Is there hope?

Where to cut? Last week I had to repot my mother's day orchid due to significant root rot. She lost the last of her flowers today, but I'm hoping to give her the best chance at recovery. Can someone show me the best place to cut the flower spikes to allow her to heal and regrow? A diagram with arrows would be helpful 😆

Last minute mother's day orchid.. I received this as a mother's day gift, so I've had it about 3 weeks. It was purchased from the grocery store, the day before mother's day, so let's say less than stellar quality of care. When I first got it the top was dry but there were mushy roots growing from the bottom hole. I immediately clipped those roots but didn't search further since it otherwise appeared healthy after watering. Flash forward to today when I pulled out the growing pot and could see visibly yellowed and flat roots through the pot. Once I got in there I realized how bad it really was, and this mound of dirt was the culprit. Right under the leaves at the initial root stem was what looked like a pack of straight soil. It seems like they just left the starter mix when they repotted and it held all the water and rotted the roots from the source ! She lost a lot of roots and is now drying out until I can get fresh orchid mix later. Any suggestions on what else I can do to help her recover? And has anyone else experienced this wet dirt issue?

Is this a new flower stem? In addition to the new buds on the existing flower stems, one of the Yandal Sisters has produced this green shoot #phalaenopsisorchid

I thought Diva died last year but still watered her after I installed Greg. A few months later I noticed she got a new leaf and thought "Okay, if she's getting new leaves, she can't be dead." and kept doing what I was doing. Look at her now! ✨ Not dead at all 🥰
