Since transitioning from plastic slotted pots to a glass container around 5 months ago, the humidity has helped her grow so many juicy, hairy roots. They are about twice as thick as the sad, algae-covered roots she came with. Khaki green are original roots, bright green with hair are newer roots. #HappyPlants #PhalaenopsisOrchid #Phalaenopsis #PhalaenopsisBellinaOrchid

Fuzzy mold on my orchid! 𤢠Ok, this is what I talk about when I say thereās a high mold count where I live š (I also sort of blame Trader Joeās too lol I swear why does everything from there get moldy super fast including the plants apparently ššš) I was waiting to transfer the orchid to orchid bark after it was done flowering but I donāt think that matters any more at this point.. (The flower stems got damaged anyway thanks to an unfortunate event involving my husband and an air fryer. ā ļø) I did of course remove it from the death plastic and loosened up the moss and roots a bit after buying it. What should I do from here, rinse and soak in a hydrogen peroxide solution for a bit then trim anything mushy?? Iām mortified of fuzzy molds, I donāt know why I always have been!! Like if I see a piece of moldy bread or food I will scream and run š¤®šš It started out looking so good lol why does everything I have such bad luck with these days #PhalaenopsisOrchid #OrchidLovers #GregGang #help

Do I need to cut my orchid for it to bloom again? I changed the pot, soil, and added in a half spike of orchid food. #PhalaenopsisOrchid

Orchid Root Loss Has anyone had a rehab orchid recover from this much root rot? Around Christmas, my mother-in-law gave me an orchid she bought from a Kroger thatās closing its doors. It came packed in spagnum and sitting in an inch of water, so after I checked and trimmed the roots, I repotted in orchid bark. Thatās the first picture. Iād noticed that slowly the leaves were wilting; although one was kind of starting to firm up, another one was getting very yellow. I checked the roots today and omg⦠they were all hollow, stringy, and dead. I had to trim off almost all of them. Thereās literally ONE root left; thatās the 2nd picture. Iāve repotted it into loosely packed spagnum moss mixed with fine size orchid bark, squeezing out most of the water. Any tips on what to do with only one root? #OrchidLovers #RootRot #RootLoss #PhalaenopsisOrchid

Bellina Hybridās first spike Summer Dance Queen x Miro Be Queen Simultaneously spiking and growing a new leaf (bellinas do both and may sometimes stop and start one or the other). Potted in glass with no drainage, just loose moss and a drainage layer of bark, lava rock, and I probably would have thrown some akadama in there as well. Grow lights on a timer for 12 hours or so every day. This seems to have cropped up in the past week, and Iām pretty pleasantly surprised because while this is on a heating mat, the temps in this space have been 55-65 for the past 6 weeks or so⦠everything I ever read before getting Bellinas said they will pitch a fit in temps below 70, so itās nice to see all of my Bellinas seem to be thriving with this setup (itās been at least 6 months). #OrchidLovers #PhalaenopsisBellinaOrchid #PhalaenopsisOrchid #FloweringPlants

New orchid! Hi folks! Itās been a while since Iāve attempted to keep one of these #traderjoesplants #PhalaenopsisOrchid alive hahaha. But Iāve learned a lot since the last time! Iām determined to keep it alive this go around! And Iād love your guysās help along the way - thatās why Iāve named her āGregās Orchidā. So we can all care for her together. 𤣠š±How does she look? Iām supposed to remove her from her damp compacted moss prison right? š±I do have orchid bark! Says āmediumā although a lot of chunks are pretty big.. š±I heard while theyāre flowering they donāt need as much light, but when theyāre done theyāll want more to focus on growing? š±Where should I put her?? I canāt decide š sheās currently in a southern facing kitchen window above the sink. What are your other tips and tricks? Letās help her thrive!! #OrchidLovers #OrchidOrg #help #GregGang
