Chiba's Phalaenopsis
About Chiba's Phalaenopsis
Phalaenopsis orchids get their name from the Greek 'phalaina' meaning moth, as their flowers are thought to resemble moth or butterfly wings! 🦋 Once their flowers have blossomed, they will eventually die but the plant will live one and continue to produce new flower spikes throughout its life. Orchid flowers evolved to attract pollinators and ther unique shape helps keep insects safe while collecting and dispersing pollen! 🐝

Finding light for Chiba's Phalaenopsis in your home

Chiba's Phalaenopsis may have difficulty thriving, and will drop leaves 🍃, without ample sunlight.
Place it less than 3 feet from a south-facing window to maximize the potential for growth.
Select your region to see how the current weather in your area affects the placement of Chiba's Phalaenopsis in your home 🏡.
How to fertilize Chiba's Phalaenopsis

Most potting soils come with ample nutrients which plants use to produce new growth.
By the time your plant has depleted the nutrients in its soil it’s likely grown enough to need a larger pot anyway.
To replenish this plant's nutrients, repot your Chiba's Phalaenopsis after it doubles in size or once a year—whichever comes first.

My next door neighbor gifted me with this beautiful orchid yesterday 🥰 I just recently met her and she was telling me about how she’s a plant lady and I said that I was too, and so she brought me this beauty yesterday. She said she only does succulents, so I’m hoping I do better job with this orchid than I did with my last one 😬 My house now has better natural light and more windows than my previous house, and I didn’t have any other houseplants at the time 4 years ago, so fingers crossed 🤞🏼 I watered her 3 oz of warm water yesterday like the care instructions she came with said. Any tips appreciated! #PlantsMakePeopleHappy #PlantTherapy #OrchidLovers #PlantAddict

Is it dying? #PhalaenopsisOrchid Hi! Really newbie at flower care! Got this as a gift two weeks ago and all the flowers were OK, not only two are OK and the others have dried up! I checked the roots and they are green. Have my flower in half shadow, indoors.

Is my orchid salvageable? Hi all, I’m wondering what happened to my orchid and if I can save it. I got it for cheap at a grocery store a few months ago and a lot of the roots were rotted so I trimmed them and replanted, then a few weeks ago noticed the roots had rotted again so I trimmed more of them off then put the plant in water. It looked like it was doing better but I just noticed all this mold-looking growth on the roots and base of the plant. What is this, and can I save the plant? Thank you!

Is my plant dead? #PhalaenopsisOrchid the stem of my orchid seems like it’s dead, but the leaves in the bottom are ok? I never had luck with orchids in the past and this one was a going away gift and lives in my office — it is def root bound but I would have no clue on how to repot it!

Watering amount So the app is telling me to give her 12oz of water a week when the card that came with her says 2-4oz a week. What one should I listen to? I do not want to over water her.

I am new to orchid care, recently my flowers that had been on since I got the plant in mid May have all fallen off and the green stems are slowly turning yellow. Just making sure this is a normal part of the plant cycle! #PhalaenopsisOrchid
