Finding light for Coconut in your home

a window
Cocoanut love being close to bright, sunny windows 😎.
Place it less than 1ft from a south-facing window to maximize the potential for growth.
Cocoanut does not tolerate low-light 🚫.

How to fertilize Cocoanut

Most potting soils come with ample nutrients which plants use to produce new growth.
By the time your plant has depleted the nutrients in its soil it’s likely grown enough to need a larger pot anyway.
To replenish this plant's nutrients, repot your Cocoanut after it doubles in size or once a year—whichever comes first.

Here’s my coconut getting ready to sprout! 🌱 I just soaked it for 24 hours and it’s going to start splitting in about 2-3 months!

I have a few words of caution. Something I found involving a plant and…maggots. I must add I HATE maggots and they are really the only thing that scares me as far as insects go. So…. I have this coconut I’m trying to sprout. (I have one already pretty tall). So I soaked it, then put it halfway in soil and put a bag over it. Left it in a bright warm area. Today I decided to check it after a few weeks and took the bag off and to my horror it’s covered in tiny maggots!!!! I guess the bag over it was not closed good and some gnats snuck in. Luckily the nut is fine. They haven’t gotten inside but I’m kinda freaking out now. I’m about to scrub it with soap and let it dry before I try again. So…..my lesson I learned the hard way is to make sure the bag or wrap that you use for something like this (for humidity) is fully sealed if you have gnats. I was not ready for this horror!!! #PlantTherapy #bugs #help #Coconut #Seedlings
