About Alocasia 'Bambino'
Alocasias, commonly known as Elephant Ears, are some of the most common houseplants although their leaves can reach enormous sizes when grown outdoors! 🐘 They typically only support a few leaves at a time (more, when they get more sun!) so don't be concerned if you see an old leaf begin to retire after a new one emerges. They grow out of underground corms which are similar to bulbs, so next time you repot keep an eye out for baby Alocasias! They contain calcium oxalate crystals so be sure to keep them out of reach if you have children or pets! ⚠️

Most potting soils come with ample nutrients which plants use to produce new growth.
By the time your plant has depleted the nutrients in its soil it’s likely grown enough to need a larger pot anyway.
To replenish this plant's nutrients, repot your Alocasia 'Bambino' after it doubles in size or once a year—whichever comes first.

Can someone give me a rational reason why an alocasia that’s been sitting in the same spot with the same plants for months all of a sudden has spider mites? This makes no sense. 😂I wish I would have taken a picture. #PlantsMakePeopleHappy #HappyPlants

Corms Alocasia What do I do with corms? One had full roots so I planted it. But what to do with the others? I put them in a mix of moss and perlite, moistened, and domed. Is that good or should I do something different? Also, do you fully submerge the corms or leave it sitting on the surface? Thanks for any advice. #BlackVelvetAlocasia #AlocasiaBambino #corms #Propagation #NewPlantMom #arizona

Why did this happen 😭 TL;DR: My mini alocasia (that’s what it is right..??) wilted all but one leaf. It received a new red/purpley grow light with its pals a few months ago. But it never seemed to thrive since I got the thing. It was also overdue for a reporting. I’ve always sort of struggled with this plant, I feel like it’s always been a bit leggy or never grew bigger leaves. Idk. Only thing that changed recently is Several months ago, I installed a gifted new grow light over a few of my plants. It’s more powerful than my others and is a purple colored one. It has been sitting right next to my asparagus fern, dotted begonia, neon pothos and prayer plant, none of which have had problems (except for maybe the nerve plant dropped it’s longer trailing branches, but it’s currently blooming and sprouting new growth from the top). It’s decline seems sudden, but I guess it’s also been sort of hidden behind the other guys. The current one leaf it has left seems green and rigid though. I was going to repot it soon. Is it just root bound and suffocated? Or is it light related? I do feel like it changed after the new lighting but it could be coincidence. This plant has been difficult for me. Any help on saving it and tips for helping it thrive is appreciated. (Included a pic of the begonia it’s right next to. Does that seem ok too or no??) #help #AlocasiaAddicts #Alocasia #SadPlant #Begonia #GrowLights #Dyingplant

Why is it doing this? My alocasia polly has been my problem child. He did this when I first got him and I figured I was over watering. I pulled him out of his pot and repotted him. His roots were healthy and no more yellowing and dying leaves. He wasn't growing though. I let his skill dry all the way out and when I watered him again, I added fertilizer. Now, he has a new growth coming in but his smaller leaves are yellowing and dying. WHAT am doing wrong??

No new growth for months now I adopted my Bambino in January 2022 and it was settling well even after a few months. I repotted to a larger pot where it is now on latest picture posted. I probably repotted sometime last summer. Come winter, I notice the condition of the plant has gone down hill. Now, one has no leaves and the other is barely holding on with two. What can I do to help them bounce back?

miserable alocasia amazonica my alocasia amazonica is the most miserable plant i have ever owned. how do i make it happy? it is constantly dropping leaves and looks so sad!!!! it drops leaves when it’s overwatered or underwatered. i have it under a grow light for about 12 hours a day. its profile picture is from when i bought it, now it looks so much worse. it has 3 small healthy leaves, 2 dying leaves, and 1 new leaf coming up but i suspect it will dry up before it can unroll. help!! #AlocasiaAmazonica #Alocasia #AlocasiaAddicts
